Tyre pressure.

Featured Replies

What is the correct tyre pressure for a ford focus 1.6 duratec engine?

Should be stamped on the driver's door pillar but mine is 30 psi for fronts and 33 psi for rears for load of 1-3 people.

It also depends on the size of tyre fitted to your car

Sorry for resurrecting old thread...

I own Ford Focus MK3 Sportswagon 1,6 petrol (2011 year). I drive 215/55 R16 tyres.

On sticker recommended pressure is:

1-3 persons  2,1 bar/31psi front,                2,1 bar/31psi back

4-5 persons 2,4 bar/35psi front               2,8 bar/41psi back

Usually I ride just alone, or with another 2 persons and use 2,2 bar front, 2,35bar back

We are heading for long holiday trip with lot of luggage but just 3 persons (1 person is 8 years old kid so its light one...). What tyre pressure should I use. Easy answer would be just use what is on sticker but I think its huge difference between driving with  5x 70kg (165lb, 825lb together) persons and driving with 2 and half person 😉 which barely weight 170kgs (375lb) together

So right now I pressured it to 2,3 bar front,  and 2,65 bar back... Is it enough or just too much?

Is there any common rule like 0,1 bar for every 60kgs or something like that?

BTW I really hate to drive overpressured tyres because road quality here is not best ...

Talk about overthinking??  😂

The pressure you have placed in tires should be just fine. Enjoy your holiday...

You're laughing at me, but last year, when I was driving on the Hungarian highway, I thought that my car would fly away to the moon. The slow lane in the last part of the M7 highway towards Croatia was sooo terrible.

This year, when I changed from winter to summer tires, after a few km of extremely uncomfortable driving, I noticed that the tire service pressured all four tires to 3 bars, so the same problem could have happened last year as well, and now I'm paying attention to it.
I prefer to drive with less pressured tires (comfort over fuel consumption!), I just want to be sure that they will safely last 1600 km.

(and no, I am not going back to Hungarian highway, I will rather pay double for Austrian + Slovenian highway toll than to repeat that disaster)
