2007 MK3 1.8 Duratec missing after coilpack replaced

Featured Replies

If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be grateful, I have owned a 2007 mk3 1.8 petrol mondeo for the last 7 years, has full service history and done 95k, only normally do local mileage as work in hometown but do a couple of trips a year 200 miles+.

Went away on holiday and on the way back after 100 miles the car started missing and spluttering so took the back roads and limped back home and put in my local garage. It would lose all power when revving but did not cut out, I had to turn off the engine and restart it to get it going again but would gradually get worse again.

They put it on the laptop but found no fault codes so changed the HT leads, plugs and coil pack.

Picked it up the next day and all was good for a couple of days doing short runs but on the 3rd day took it for another long run and it started to miss again so took it straight back to the garage.

They put it back on the laptop but came up with no faults again so they took it for a 20 mile drive with no issues. Told me they can't find anything the matter with it.

Anyone know why it would start to miss and loose power after a run but fine after a short journey?
