Sony audio

Featured Replies

Hi there...

Trying to get a touch of advice if it's possible to retrofit the sony audio in to my 2009 Fiesta zetec. It does have factory bluetooth and Ambient lighting... However, I can only use the bluetooth for taking calls. Most of my music is on google play music these days and the Auxiliary socket just doesn't really cut it. I've always ran decent audio in my cars I have a set of Rainbow DL's from my previous mk6 Fiesta that I'd also like to fit.

I have considered going aftermarket, but those fascia adapters are nothing short of ugly. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the sony audio, would I also be able to change the control unit to allow usb and bluetooth audio/A2dP. Or am I going to have to live with the adapters and fit an aftermarket unit.

Thanks in advance, Rich.

I'm sure it is possible to fit a sony unit in the mk6, however if it's anything like the mk7 then the bluetooth is a separate module. Then again I have no experience with the mk6 so could just be talking out my backside

It is a mk7 mate haha.

Lol I must've read your post completely wrong. I guess I read mk6 fiesta and didn't read the before part.

Anyway yes, bluetooth is separate and changing the head unit won't fix that. Totally agree about those fascia adapters in the mk7. Sadly that's the tradeoff when you end up with such a proprietary design.

In my mk7.5 you can swap the bluetooth module (called SYNC) for a newer version that supports more features. Not sure if your car will recognise a new unit for you as you don't have SYNC on pre-facelift models.

Then again the pre-facelift might not even support bluetooth media. I assume you have made sure other people have had bluetooth media from the factory?

There was an update released to support bluetooth media. However, you need a usb port for the software update.
