fratello
Hi ! I have a Ford Focus MK3, 1.6l, Yi-VCT engine, 92 kW (125HP). It's a great car, i love it, it's my first FORD.. BUT i have a BIG problem ! A while ago, I noticed that, while the car is stationary, when the engine rises above 1500 rpm there is a trembling of the engine, which IS NOT present at idle (under 1500 RPM) ; this tremble gets stronger at around 2400 rpm, then it disappears if rpm rise.... It does not matter if the weather is cold or hot, if the engine is cold or warm, AC or not.... Simply, over 1500 rpm, this trembling appears at different values of rpm. I note that the engine presents no sign of power loss while driving, and the service maintenance was made according to the manual, using original parts and fluids. In authorized FORD services, the engine was IDS diagnosed (but no errors at all !!!) , the spark plugs/ignition coil were changed, the upper and rear motor mounts were changed, but nothing has changed! They did not know what was the cause, so I left the services without solving my problem. So, I need your advice ! What parameters should be tested ? What parts should be investigated / changed to identify the issue ? Thanks in advance for every reply !
JONATHAN_11_80
If the engine pulls well when you are on the move and doesn't hesitate or stutter then I really wouldn't worry about it. The ecu has been mapped to fuel under load the engine may not like being revved with no load hence your issue. My focus also has a similar characteristic. fratello
Thanks for the reply ! The engine works well on load ... but I do not think it's NORMAL to shake, at no matter rpm value! It's not my first car ... but none had this problem (despite the low cost construction)
JONATHAN_11_80
Mine shakes a little at idle its the ecu making sure the emission levels are within limits think you will find most modern cars have some form of vibration at idle

Siye-ZS
i have the same engine and mine does not do this. So when you rev the engine over 1500 the whole car trembles? This is not normal, although depends what you mean. The desiel engines are quite noisey. Have you tried changing the fuel filter?
fratello
Hi, Siye-SZ ! Thanks for reply ! Yes, at 1500 rpm and 2500 rpm (aprox.) the whole car trembles ... At idle, at 2000 rpm, at 3000 rpm don't shake ...
fratello
... Look at how obvious it is the tremble at 2400 rpm .... https://youtu.be/JO2BsfBoKBc

fratello
Unfortunately, I have not solved anything ... I still gather information, how to identify the cause of the problem and what is the solution. The polish guys from fordserwis.com.pl say : "We can not send you how solve problem without car.We have to perform diagnostics of the car - this is possible only in our garage." Dargoh
I have the same issue like yours. My engine run is 37000 km. The service said it won't cause any damage, and maybe the VCT drive has some interference, but they wasn 't sure. But now I have new a problem: cold temperature the engine doesn't works well, its loses power under acceleration.
