Anywhere cheaper than Mr Clutch

Featured Replies

Hi, I am currently looking for a garage in Surrey, UK to replace my clutch and flywheel as my flywheel is making loud noises. Mr Clutch quoted me £750 for the work needed. I was wondering if anyone knew a garage that would do the work cheaper. The car that needs repairing is my 2003 Ford Mondeo Estate LX 2.0 diesel.

Thanks

That seems on the high side, I'd say maybe £200 for the clutch kit plus a few hours labour, if it where me I'd phone round a few local garages to make sure you are not being ripped off.

£750 sounds reasonable to me for clutch kit, dm flywheel, flywheel bolts, gear oil and labour of 5 hrs.

Many Ford dealers do special rates for older cars worth checking

£689 not including the dmf at ford.

Flywheel will be at least £200 + clutch kit, plus CSC, bolts etc, all the parts needed for a diesel clutch change will be a LOT more than £200

I wouldn't use Mr Clutch personally to many horror stories.  Try a decent independent garage.  Had a quote for a clutch on my focus ford wanted £595 plus the dmf my local ford specialist would do it for £475 plus dmf so there wasn't a lot of difference.

I've just had a Valeo single flywheel conversion and clutch supplied and fitted for £460 in Manchester on a Mk3 2007 2.0 130ps. This was from a independent commercial garage who does lots of Transits
