Mondeo mk. 5 Uneven idle and occasional stall

Have had my 2018 diesel mondeo for about 6 months now.  About 2 months ago it start idling strangely but only intermittently.  Every day or two it revs from the usual ~800rpm to just under 1000 up and down over and over for a few minutes and then a few minutes later goes back to normal - a nice steady 800rpm.  While it's doing the uneven idle, fuel consumption is almost double as well.  This is happening regardless of if the auto-stop is turned on so often what it does is that it idles unevenly

A good question and the answer is I don't know. The Sony radio in the Fiesta Mk7.5 does receive DAB+ Perhaps @alexp999 might be able to offer you an answer. The aerial amp/isolator is located in the very top edge of the tailgate just under the trim panel. Just unplug and unscrew, very quick and easy to change.

I have a 7.5. How would I be able to tell if my radio is DAB+, car is a 2017 model so not sure? Are the DAB aerial amps etc easy to diagnose? thanks for the advice

Have you still not changed the battery? Don't bother with Ford, just put a higher capacity battery on

Hi, Did you charge the battery while it was connected to the car? If yes, then you should consider two things. The first is that if you conencted the charger directly to the battery, the car could not tell there is current flowing into the battery, but rather out of it thus, the estimated state of charge would decrease instead of increasing. The second is that there is a recalibration of the state of charge carried out by by the car's computer. It is not clear to me when it is being carried out, and what is taken into account when it does so. Measuring the voltage should be done under no load conditions after the voltage has settled. In my case a new EFB battery fully charged measured approx 13.0V after voltage settle. As a comparisson, the original battery measured 12.75V fully charged, no load, after voltage has settled. So clearly the old original battery was no so good anymore.   Advice: if you have the possibility, open the bonnet and lock the car. Ideally next morning, measure the voltage. DON'T take you key fob close to the car as it will wake it up and your voltage reading will not be accurate. Now, if you car has slept through the night you should have a very well charged battery (I would estimate around 12.9V or more, based on what I measured on my car). If your battery has gone bad or the car has not slept you will see a lower voltage which shall depend on the current drawn over the night.   Hope you can get an idea about what is going on.
