Random accidents, and in need of advice

Has anyone else noticed that alot of us have bumped/bashed/in some way had our cars damaged over the last week or two???

I caught the corner of an extension wall on Monday night.. scraping above the rear wheel arch on the drivers side quite badly.

Had a quote of £400 to repair, and being 19 this might be a better option than going through my insurance, as my insurance would probably increase by over £400 if I made a claim??

I'm not sure, what would you all suggest?

Thanks

Nooooooooooo, this is too freaky.

This is freaky :( somebody is out to get us, lol. My windscreen got badly chipped the other day, has since been fixed for free through the insurance, but still, it wastes the looks of my baby, I think, possibly only me that see's where the repair job is, but still, I'm a lot better off than you guys and gals who've had unfortunate accidents with your cars =/

May it all end now!!!

This is really scaring me now :(

I've not even got mine and I am now worried . . . especially as I have to street part at night

It's worth going onto the website of your insurer, doing a quote for next year with the claim to see how much it goes up by. Then do this for the year after, and the year after (You will have to declare claims for three years). If the extra of this adds up to over £400, which I am guessing it will, then it's worth getting it sorted yourself.

Just make up your age etc to get the years in the future quotes to give you an estimate

You also have to factor in your excess - which for you, I would guess, would mean that you are unliley to get any of it paid from the insurance company anyway and all you will have done is let them know you have had a small accident and then they might factor that into next years premium!!

I had a really really strong feeling I was going to have an accident in my car pretty soon and it happened. It's like a couple of years back I had a really strong feeling that I was going to need another brain scan somtime. Then I had the mini stroke!

hi within the first week of having mine i hit a fezant and cracked my mirror.dame things lol.

My wife kerbed one of the front wheels this morning (second time this has happened this year - first time was me!) and damaged the brand new tyre (only fitted an hour before)

The wheel will be repaired for about £60 and the local tyre place said that the damage was not enough to worry about (very small tear in the kerb strip on the side wall)

It was only last month that I had to get the windscreen replaced as a stone cracked it!

Had to have the USB cover replaced last week during its service as I ripped it off taking the ipod cable out.

Not having a good couple of months!

I'd definitely (sadly!) suggest not involving your insurer - you'll have to pay an excess towards the value of the claim then they'll load your premium next year & the year after. Had my last car "stoned" by a little b*s*a*d a few years ago, golf ball sized dent in the roof - £350 bill to have the roof panel filled & resprayed but did that out of my own pocket for the reasons stated. Garage made a reasonable job of it, fortunately!

Thanks for all your advice guys.

Dont seem to have a great deal of luck in my car, when we had bad ice in february I skidded into a kirb and buckled the front passenger side wheel and it had to be replaced, shortly after a girl friend of mine kirbed my drivers side wheel whilst trying to park, and just last week another girl kirbed the passenger side rear wheel whilst goin round a corner while I was in the passenger seat, was not happy! But I'll keep my "women driver" comments to myself i think :P ;)

I think you poms need to re-sit your driving tests, doing all this damage to new cars :P

It's because we have tiny roads! And all our parking spaces are sized for super minis, not utes!

On Friday morning, my 3 month old fiesta zetec had a freaky accident whilst sat in my driveway. The Window cleaner left his ladders unattended which were caught by a gust of wind sending them through my bonnet! Damage estimate is £800 possibly more just waiting on word back. I was so gutted and still am :(

Sorry to hear about that :(

I think i've worked out what's making all these accidents occur... jelous new Corsa drivers angry at the fact they bought the Corsa instead of waiting for the fiesta  soo doing some sort of Voodoo magic on us Fez owners! :P

Why, well known fact that their spacial awareness is not as good hence why they have more trouble parking . .

Well I felt my wheel clip the pavement as I was turning to park today, was dreading looking at the alloys, but it looks like there is only a tiny scratch. Will need further investigation when I next wash them, so I hope that's all it is.
