Hereβs a good video if youβve ever wondered how good an MOT failure MK2 Focus is at off roading π€£3 points

It does seem a lot of people currently believe giving way to the right at roundabouts no longer applies to them.3 points

I really like my 2015 ST flying through it's (first with me) MOT, with an Oil & Spark Plug change all within 3 hours. First time it's been Serviced outside of Ford, but my local independent garage is at the end of my street.3 points

Finally got the thermostat for the Mondeo this afternoon. All fitted . That's the Peugeot parked up again.ππππ2 points

I do like getting my Mondeo back from the smash repairers, in almost pristine condition! I will somewhat miss getting the 70 MPG the courtesy car was getting though2 points

Was going to give mine a quick wash, it looks awful with the spotty dust, then it had started raining so didn't bother lol, It's going in garage tomorrow for Oil & MOT, so I will give it a good clean nearer the weekend, hopefully break out the machine polisher too.2 points

It has finally arrived at the repair centre of insurers choice and I'm just waiting on their assessment but I have been told they are clearing their backlogs before they asses my vehicle as the majority of their staff have unfortunately been furloughed1 point

Wiperblades is the best bet for the actual blade, the arm if you need one you could look in a breakers like http://focuscity.co.uk1 point

Unfortunately I'm on limited time online at the mo otherwise I would probably link that part but for what it's worth, I used to always rock H351 with both my mk2 and mk2.5s, I don't recall ever fitting a H382 however the main difference is that the 351 is 350mm and the 382, 380mm. ...I would imagine the extra length would please some people over it being metal π β If you get stuck at all with conflicting info for stuff like this the halfords web search thing is usually pretty handy for wipers, etc. **With regards to the 351, if anyone has a mk3 I continue to use those over the recommended on my mk3.5 ST as they're longer and fit perfectly fine, and are more abundantly stocked!1 point

Lenny, think yourself lucky, if you worked out in the open Countryside your boss would probably issue you with a shovel and a weeks supply of dock leaves.1 point

Make sure you put the new filter in the right way round, there will be arrows on it. It's a bit of a bugger to get back in, you have to fold it a little to get it in the right place. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk1 point

I trust you buddy, have just bought that Valeo link! Now, anyone want a cheap Bosch H304?? LOL1 point
-
I wouldn't put too much trust in an Ebay compatibility check lol! The Valeo seems to be covered by this compat check...but so do half the cars on the road! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-VANETTE-1981-1987-BUS-Wiper-Blade-Valeo-V38-Silencio-380mm-15-X1-574109/124108302720?hash=item1ce56e6980:g:zhcAAOSw0sVeYbXQ1 point

304 would be fine if you had an estate... It's plastic, 3" too short and the wrong fitting for a PFL hatch. But other than that I'm sure it'll be fine. If you wanted another identical Valeo to make sure it's correct, it should be V38, part number 574109. Have you tried removing the blade yet btw? You might find the arm has gone brittle and snaps when you attempt it, I've broken a few, but maybe I'm just heavy handed!1 point

Sounds to me more like the clutch is dragging, i.e. not disengaging fully. A poster earlier in this thread said theirs was fixed by bleeding but if air is getting into the system it might need a new master and/or slave cylinder.1 point

The car feels more mature than the mk7 Fiesta. The interior is a major design step up. The technology is far better and the car simply feels like it is a bit more grown up than the mk7. Quality for a small car isn't bad - tonnes of hard plastic about but the bits that need to be soft are. A little bit more soft touch material on the door panels wouldn't have hurt but it's really a small niggle. I have the ST-Line X and whilst quite firm (especially comparing to a softer Titanium), the ride is fairly smooth and doesn't become unsettled easily. The car all depends on your needs - my needs were a car that can carry me and very very rarely one or two other people. The rest was about a half-decent look, good equipment levels and adequate performance. I find the Fiesta is the best balanced for that when compared to competition. I did look briefly at an Ibiza FR but the car just wasn't as well equipped as the Fiesta is and you can get a Fiesta as a 3-door which seems to be a dying breed for cars!1 point

I think that is actually true, I think my driving has been affected by being at home all week then only going shopping once a week, Most are sat at home looking at screens all day, then after a week they have to drive and focus on things a lot further out and aren't used to it. Kind of the same, I love going for walks with my girlfriend and camera, but I'm not living with my girlfriend and she has a vulnerable son, So I'll be going out on my own, hopefully soon I just need to find the right spots for parking etc. People are in for a shock when they find out 'travel for exercise' didn't mean 'take the kids to the coast for an ice-cream' (apparently that's confusing) Everywhere will be locked down and there will be no public toilets, car parks, cafes or pubs, I usually take all my own food and drink anyway and avoid people lol.1 point

Even the Titanium X doesn't come 'fully specced'. There are still many options you could choose on top of that base spec. It's not as simple as inserting an SD card but you can add sat nav. The Grand C-Max isn't badged 'Grand', it just has the 7 seats and sliding door as you say.1 point
-
@2397 in 2016 was Ford changing the system from Sync2 to Sync3. In Q4 2016 came the SYNC3 . Can you confirm which SYNC you have? In the armrest you have just USB port or also SDcard slot? And forget about ODB GENIE, you can activate it yourself even for free, but only when the system is SYNC2. Cheers @Comares2001 no, in MK3.5 sat nav was not standard.1 point

It's good to hear the Philippines are taking the virus seriously. Arrested and locked up or shot on sight those who break the rules.1 point
-
Nope, no radio codes on the mk3 focus. SYNC is basically just Ford's fancy bluetooth, it shouldn't have an impact on this issue.1 point

Had one as a courtesy car for a day once - donβt know if it was the 85 or 120 unfortunately. It did have a diesel like clatter to it but by no means was it overwhelming in the cabin. Economy was really good at about 55-60mpg. Would I buy one though? I dont think so. All depends on your mileage. A 125ps Ecoboost should get you a realistic 40mpg plus and is quieter, more refined and offers good performance. Youβd have to cover extremely high distances to warrant the price difference and the Ecoboost is a better choice if you do short journeys all the time1 point

I have one of these, the start stop variant and i did take my battery off only because i wasn't sure how long it would take to charge but i'm sure you can actually have it connected full time as mine had a ring terminals as part of the kit along with the usual croc-clips. so i would say that you would be ok to leave it connected if it's easier. Found this, Unlike traditional car battery chargers which pour power into a battery at a constant (and usually rather high) rate until the moment you disconnect it, CTEK Car Battery Chargers feature βintelligentβ computer-chip technology which means you can leave them connected indefinitely to your battery β without having to disconnect the battery from your vehicle. No spanners, no grease and no mess in the kitchen.1 point

@jmurray01 is it the job or the lockdown that's getting to you? It's affecting a lot of folk, not that that will make you feel better, including my 82 year old mum. Re your car, I've just spent 3-400 on the Focus getting the rear springs etc replaced, probably looking at getting a replacement for it this year. I suppose you just have to figure out when to stop throwing good money after bad. Hopefully you can find some more affordable parts, seems a shame to scrap a decent car for such a small bit.1 point

I also don't like finding out that if one of the calipers are faulty on the Passat (EPB fault) then it is Β£300 for a decent replacement, and they recommend replacing them in pairs!! So basically Β£600 for calipers then labour on top of that! For that price I could get a replacement car with 12 months MOT, so unfortunately the Passat will not be going through another MOT and when it runs out (or something else breaks), I'll get rid for whatever I can and replace it with a car that DOESN'T have a reputation for being one of the least reliable cars of the 21st century!1 point

Pulled the old clutch out to check against the new one. Part numbers match. Which is strange as the clutch is meant to 220mm and you can see it's clearly not. I was going to put the new clutch in. But the old is essentially brand new!! Must've been done just before I got it. This is bad news. It means the OEM clutch will not hold the torque of a gtd1244vz. So I ordered a clutch off CG Motorsport that's the same spec as the one I had on the 306 I had. As they run the same size clutch and the thing held way more power than what this thing had. So it should be fine. A few photos for comparison. Look how new the clutch is. Also that was my old 306 clutch. Yes I ran unsprung. I went on the advice of a few old friends who have run these clutch's a lot. So yeah. I've got a clutch on order now. It'll be about a week. Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk1 point

Hey guys! I'm new here, and I expect to own a Focus MK1 1.8TDDI. Before buying it I would like to hear some tips to check if everything is okay. I did not drive the car, yet, but I checked it. - Body and paint are in awesome shape - Interior is awesome - 245k KM with timing belt changed with approx. 210k KM. The engine seems to be running fine. Idle is fine. However, the owner said it didn't started the car for some time, so when I did start it it took something like 3 seconds to start. Would it be normal or something to be worried about? When it started some white smoke came out from the exhaust, and then everything fine. Also, when revving there is a little black smoke, but since it seems to not have the exhaust fully stock (because of the noise)... Also, I can hear a light whistle coming from the exhaust when revving. What are your opinions and what to check? Thanks a lot!1 point

The alloys in the bottom pic look better than the standard 15 in zetec, although themselves not a bad looking alloy..ive noticed since getting my focus at the begining of the year that the alloys fitted to the old mk1 and mk1.5 seem to wear really, really well.. Are them alloys of a fast escort?? Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk1 point
