Hi Just thought I would post this as I have recently had a leak in my coolant system. The leak was on the inside of the car with the pipes going to the heater matrix. I spoke to ford as all that was wrong is a o ring had seen better days and gave up. Apparently Ford do not sell the o ring and I needed to buy a new heater matrix (about £180). Thats a lot of money for a old o ring. So I have found out the size of the o ring needed to fix the issue is 18mm(inside diameter) by 2mm thick. You can search online for them (not sure if I can say were i got them from on this site) for a few quid. Absolute pig of a job as the pipes are up by the clutch pedal, but it can be done at home with a mirror a light. I had it sorted in about a hour, but it took longer to dry the car out as it leaks into the footwell Good luck, and hope this helps Cheers Rich3 points

seems a bit extreme lol. Thousands of cars serviced everyday and the mechanic doesn't necessarily 'know' whats in them but knows what should be in them and no harm done.2 points

Very nice motor looks good in the estate version are u thinking of buying it??? Yea estate. I'm thinking that, being recently married and on the verge of getting our first house, there is a strong possibility there could be another member of the family added in the near future lol So estate = family car = more room and it actually does look quote sport still. Bit like RainyDays has said, suspension would defs be getting looked at if I do decide to go for something like that.2 points

If he does get the estate, from past experience, he will need to get a suspension as well. My second Focus is an estate and it was a boat until I put eibach/bilstein on it.2 points

Hi everybody. Although I have owned Fords for 12 years I have only recently found this forum so thought I would join in. My current Ford, 2013 Mondeo Estate, is no longer the best choice as I now require a vehicle to support my hobbies of fishing, etc, more than slogging along the motorways and although I have taken the Mondeo places it has no right getting to, without getting stuck, I have been lucky, so far! I often said that "if only there was an off-road Mondeo" I would bye it. I decided I needed something to get me down farm tracks and muddy fields and I have looked at lots, Freelander 2, Disco Sport, X-Trail, Scooby Forester and Outlander, XC60, Sportage and the Edge. These were selected due to being able to get my stuff in the boot, not all boots are created equal! Finally after months of test driving and reading reviews and looking at forums I went back to my original thoughts of "off-road Mondeo". Now the Mondeo 4x4 just wasn't going to cut it as there was no more ground clearance. The Kuga boot was way too small. The Edge seemed to fit the bill. I don't need the serious mud plugging ability of a Land Rover Defender but something that doesn't scrape it's belly on farm tracks would suffice. After a bit more procrastination I took the plunge and ordered a new Edge yesterday. Titanium in Jeans Blue with tow bar, Sony DAB radio and Adaptive Cruise Control. I didn't go for Lux pack as, although I would love the leather seats, I won't have another car with a sun roof. You only need one of them to leak to put you of them for life due to the damage done before you discover the problem. The dealer also confirmed that they are now being built with Sync 3 fitted, so even better. His conservative delivery estimate is Feb 17. Now it's the agonising wait but I'm sure as with everything after a certain age, the time will fly. Cheers for now. Jim1 point

i quick look on ebay suggests rear seats for 5 door hatch and 3 door hatch are different. maybe 5 door hatch and estate are same , maybe not,,,,,,,,,1 point

In my Focus manual, the standard brake & clutch fluid is "Super DOT4". This is actually the same as DOT5.1. DOT4 & DOT5.1 can be mixed, so it is ok to add 5.1 (Super DOT4) even if it has DOT4 now. But you would only get the benefit if it was all DOT5.1 DOT5 can not be mixed with any other type, it is a different fluid altogether. i've asked a few locksmiths now and they say they cant do it! looks like the only way is to replace the top of the steering column with the barrel in it. to be honoest if i had more time i'd give it ago but she needs the car so is doing it through her insurance.1 point

A spark in air, outside the engine, is a rather poor guide. Under compression in the cylinder, it takes a lot more voltage to jump the gap. Two or three times, I would guess. One check is to open up an old plug to double the normal gap, or more. Wire the plug body to the engine, & test each lead in turn. It is important to never run the engine with a disconnected plug. It could damage the coil pack, or even the ECU. I still would put plugs, leads & coil packs at the top of the suspect list, for a misfire.1 point

Hi all I have a 52 plate ford fiesta finesse petrol As rare as it sounds I've had a faulty spark plug so I've done throttle body coil pack HT leads and plugs and odd bits Speedo has recently broken so had to change it and since then problem as you've all described has started Haven't got any hissing noise Have noticed she's normally got a growl is the only way to describe it when you put your foot down however noise doesn't appear to be heard when she's pulling back Driving me up the wall so if anyone has cracked it please let me know only bought the car for 800 and already spent over 1000 on it plus now need a new battery so if someone could help that would be amazing Thanks very much Emily :)1 point

The thing that really helped me was the licence file. Bannko supplied this to me, bundled with a Sync update so it was a case of installing/reinstalling Sync from the USB stick, so it was a fresh install and working. Once I got the Sat Nav working I then activated the cluster with FoCCCus afterwards.1 point

yep , it fits the focus mk2 petrol engine block. wouldnt mind one myself , maybe file down volvo letters and stick on a Cosworth RS500 badge and amaze all the boy racers at the maccy D carpark. ;-D1 point

A long coming update : The second one the company sent turned on but couldn't connect with any apps. Torque lite complained about it being a ODB2 copy and it couldn't read it. However the good news! I've then "splashed out" and got a Wifi ODB scanner for £13.59 on Ebay (link at the bottom) and it worked. I tried following the instructions that came with it but when i went back to the default app settings and ignored the manual it works a charm. It seems to be fairly temperamental unless you connect it with the key on but the engine not started, however once it's on it works perfectly! if you can get a look at one you will be surprised how close the slot is to the lens .just a few mm up. mark it up when it is in place then remove it to cut and and hot screwdriver. also put the cold screwdriver back in when you fill the old slot don't put to much silicone in. also keep thinking about the angle when you use the screwdriver .good luck.1 point

I wouldn't want to pay your insurance with 2 crashes and a load of modifications!! Technically anythings possible with enough time, money and fabrication but in reality it'll be cheaper to buy a better one to start with.1 point

No such thing as a silly question mate, I didn't know till I asked neither but ford say; When lowering the car by 20mm or more, it is advised to fit the steering limiter kit which consists of a 5mm rubber ring that fits in to the CV joint on either side front wheels to limit the full turning lock Preventing the widest point of the wheel rubbing off the lowerd body. Aswell as kicking out the bottom turn angle of the wheel helping you turn tighter. For 15.00GBP I thought shir why not lol1 point
