Set it to 31/12/2013 23:59 then wait a minute until it goes to 01/01/2014 then you can set the date and correct time past that point. It's a strange quirk in the system. Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)5 points

Can't believe this guy is so worried, he must be a nervous wreak with all this worry in his life. If your that stressed don't buy or lease the car or anything else of any value. The car covered by insurance, if it gets nicked or broken into or damaged it's covered, you don't lose out, just a bit of hassle to sort it out afterwards. It's just a car, there's more important things in life to worry about. 🤯 P.S. I would also recommend sleeping with the keys under your pillow just in case the car thief sneaks upstairs and nicks your keys off the bedside cabinet. 😂2 points

I'm hoping someone can help a newbie please? My clock was a few minutes slow so I decided to adjust it using the steering column stalk and the menu in the instrument cowl. However, now I can't get it to go past the year 2013! I scroll through and get to 2013 then increment up and the year returns to 2003 and goes through the same sequence over and over! I'm sure it was on 2019 when I started. 😳 What could I have done please? Thanks in advance1 point

Depends what's wrong with it. You need to identify which side is causing this first1 point

Yes and it's annoying especially if you need to disconnect the battery for some reason back to square one lol1 point

In Ford terms I think yours is called "Tango Red" which is the same colour as my wife's car, I'm still not sure how it ever got classed as "red". It looks more like "burnt rust" colour to me1 point

No they are aligned correctly to adhere to the halogen reflection and no flashing has happened from other drivers and the cut off is the same 😁1 point

Good to know, as it's rather annoying when some tw*t coming the other direction on an unlit road blinds oncoming traffic with their LED/aftermarket HIDs that are pointing at the sky.1 point

Someone near me has a 1.6 petrol Zetec-S in the light blue metallic colour that is fairly common to the MK2 Focus and has genuine MK2 RS alloys and the massive gloss black RS spoiler. Without the widebody of the RS IMHO it does look rather silly and not at all subtle. If he'd just ST'd it then fair play it would have looked tidy, oh and he's got silly Nurburgring decals all over it1 point

Hi. If anyone ever needs any help with insurance for modifications then please feel free to drop me a line. Regards, Dan.1 point

Thanks, I brought it to my mechanic this morning. He put it up on the lift and confirmed that it was the dogbone mount. He has one ordered for it and will fit it for me later this week.1 point

Easy to change just take the weight off with a jack unbolt then replace with new one you can find them on e bay and they don't cost to much ☺️1 point

At the time I guess the insurers would have been Swinton and probably Kwik Fit over the course of time I had that car. As I say all they were interested in was any exhaust modifications, they weren't concerned with anything else.1 point

Can confirm mines done that before battery went was like wtf.1 point

I don't know why Ford doesn't follow the lead of some manufacturers and fit washer nozzles hidden under the bonnet above the scuttle panel. Sleeker bonnet and no pesky dribbles [emoji848] Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)1 point

I had a leak on my 2008 estate, not sure if I fixed it completely but I applied extra sealant (sikaflex) to the panel joins at the top of the body when you open the tailgate. On mine there was quite a pronounced fold that looked like it could let water in. It got better after this but tbh I haven’t checked on it again since.1 point

Did anyone watch the Great British Road Journeys programme last night? Proper car on there, over 100 years old with a 3 litre engine...producing 3 horse power... Thankfully we've progressed in terms of power per litre! On a serious note though, people that are only doing very short, cold journeys are the ideal candidates for fully electric cars... It's a shame Ford didn't push the electric Focus a bit harder over here imo as the GPF was bound to cause problems.1 point

Depends what your level of experience is and how big your toolkit is. I wouldn't exactly recommend to try it if the biggest job you've done is change your brake discs and pads lol.1 point

That's the petrol test. Diesels are only tested on smoke levels. Just to give you some idea of this, the level for a MK3 1.6 TDCi is 0.55. The level for a MK2 pfl is 3.0. He'd have to have a major boost leak to fail on a car that old...1 point

Just ordered my parts today. Hopefully all will be a simple fit. At least now i have a good idea of where that loose lead has to go.1 point

Would also like to say thanks for this thread as I never noticed this extra cable and didn't even realise these buttons should be lit constantly lol1 point

As Albert said, there was a dodgy batch of injectors across the whole 1.8TDCI range, sometime in 2008. Though if it has not shown up by now on this car, then it may well be ok. The thread on this started in 2014, peaked about 2016, and has gone quiet lately. The thread is: The lower timing chain was changed to a belt around 2007. Unlike the chain, this is a service item, but it seems a lot of garages may not be aware of it, and it has been missed out in some cases, with bad results. It is not a problem if it is changed at sensible intervals. It is possible to retro fit a chain in place of the belt. See what the service history says if there is any. Otherwise a full timing belt (upper and lower) change would be a good precaution. I think the 1.8TDCI Focus is a very good car. The 1.8TDCI is generally a more robust and longer lasting engine than the 1.6TDCI with its additive based DPF system and some tendency to carbon build up. My 1.8 is well over 170k miles now, oil change once a year. It still has low oil consumption, and is a very nice car to drive.1 point

Probably the one that nets him the most profit... Honestly, DPF delete really isn't worth the hassle nowadays (sure I've said that before ). If you did want to go to the effort of swapping a DPF back in for MOT, far better to keep your original DPF for that and cut up a cheap aftermarket one.1 point

Please refer to my previous advice. Go to a proper Auto spark, (not the one that couln't be arsed becasue it may throw up some errors) and they'll diagnose what the fault is - you definitely have a fault, and all the speculating on this forum ain't going to fix it!1 point

From reading these forums over the course of a few years, it seems that a change of fuel filter of glow plugs sorts many problems relating to EML or sluggish running...and it has worked for me both times I have had such issues.1 point

Well it's in! Everything seems good so fingers crossed! I do love working on the car in the pishing rain 😞 Thanks for the help everyone. I'll be sure to register properly to make sure I'm giving back to the community.1 point

You can definitely feel them under the carpet in a mk2/2.5 and theyre fine to stand on, the carpet and sound deadening spreads the weight so they won't crush.1 point
-
Did you check this when cold? 'Open loop' means the engine is running on a preset map without the lambda sensor feedback - it does this when cold as normal, but if the engine was warm and it was still running in open loop you may have a lambda fault.1 point

thanks @stef123 & @isetta Ended up purchasing a set of Pagid's brake pads: http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/101590218 brake disc: http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/104590068 Not a expert in changing them however seen a few videos on Youtube and feel I could do it. buttt i don't have the tools and rather not have changing brakes being the first thing I learn to do on a car :D Have a nice chap from down the road coming this evening to do the change for £50 and I'll also mention about bleeding and the drum part like @isetta mentioned as it is a zetec 6.5 (i think anyways as it has the red interior dash and the sportier looking head and tail lights)1 point
