Coming from a PC support background, I know all to well about people wanting the "latest" and "greatest" of things! People's addiction to the new thing on the block, what we call 1st gen (generation), was always the fool's choice. They were the first to update or purchase and always the most vocal when it came time to moaning and bitching about their new toy! Update if... You have a problem that the update SPECIFICALLY fixes. A new feature that will GENUINELY help if offered. Have been advised by a manufacturer to apply to remedy an issue. Anything else is a risky and sometimes costly update. I've had plenty of people contact me over the years when firmware updates went south, and I go back as far when a firmware update involved replacing IC's and not just downloading a file! My thoughts on this site have been, what's people's fascination with running the latest F10 maps? These maps are probably out of date compared to other solutions mapping solutions, Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, Tom Tom etc. Just because Ford say F10 is the latest does not mean they are actually up-to-date at time of release. FORD use Here Technologies for their mapping software, anyone seen a here.com vehicle capturing data?? It's also not in FORD's best interest to support updates over Wi-Fi, they would rather you take your car to a dealer and have them apply the update. All that Wi-Fi bandwidth costs FORD lots and lots and this isn't their bread a butter at the end of the day, they don't even want to make cars any more!!!4 points

Indeed, me complaining 39 years ago certainly taught Ford dealers a thing or two ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ4 points

Sorry to but in Dave, but I still have a brochure from 2019. DA Pack was TSR, Auto High Beam and Adaptive Cruise Control. The rear view camera was part of the Convenience Pack.4 points

Its quite simple. If I buy new, it should be new and perform as such. No scratches or software issues. More people need to speak out and moan about this stuff otherwise they'll just keep doing it and getting away with it.3 points

I had a freind who used to own an upmarket used car sales garage, and he said that although nearly all used car dealers only give a 3 month warranty they are all obliged by law to sort out and fix problems for 6 months from the date of sale. So yes it is the law, you just have to fight for it !!! Good Luck.2 points
-
From what I understand you really need to go back to the garage you bought your car from regardless of your warranty expiring.Donโt be fobbed off.According to the law if your car develops a fault (within 6 months of owning it) that is not related to ware and tear then the garage has to be given the opportunity to fix it.Have a look at the Sales and Consumers Act 2015 I think. Not 100% sure but trying to help and steer you in the right direction ๐2 points

As @erictcleric says, if you have a Microsoft account and log into Edge on any device, it will copy everything across* (though I don't believe it copies extensions across onto the mobile Android version of Edge). No fuss whatsoever except for individual websites that might need to verify that it's you logging in via a new devices and any two factor authentication. Got hold of my new Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop on Friday and it was a couple of minutes to do both Edge and Firefox by simply signing into the accounts and syncing the profiles (Firefox was slightly less exact but otherwise just as easy).2 points

There was a bit of an uprising on here about 18 months ago..software issues on brand new mk4s. Lot of formal complaints to ford and dealerships. Ppl going to trading standards etc. I think software updates solved the vast majority of issues. We all know these cars arenโt cheap. U really should get what you paid for.2 points

If you sign into the laptop with a Microsoft account and use Edge that's normal. It syncs your Windows settings (including favourites and passwords) to your Microsoft account.2 points

Well this has turned in to an interesting tread ๐ So it seems my car does not have 'Drivers Assistance Pack' but it does display Speed Signs. It also must be actually seeing the signs as there is a stretch of road near by that is 60MPH, but some how along its length there is a random 40 sign, which my car always picks up, displays 40 and then changes back when I pass the next 60. I find it hard to think that my car never uses any information from the sat nav, as again there are roads near by that the signs are missing or damaged that can't be read (not even by me) and yet the car still displays the correct speed. As for the national speed sign (what an out dated piece of junk) I'm sure I've seen my car display it. Now I'm going to have to go out and try all this stuff I've just said to prove to myself I'm not just talking BullS##t1 point

I've never seen mine show the national speed limit sign, it always show a number, ie 70, I'm pretty sure he's wrong with the motorway overheads 99.99% mine reads them, well certainly on the M60 round Manchester.1 point

I know garages can do what is called a sniff test that is usea chemical that changes colour in the presence of hydrocarbons (from the engine) in the coolant. However its not as sensitive to diesel fumes as it is to petrol. You can buy the kits on ebay for ยฃ20ish. I saw a Wheeler Dealer episode where Ant pressurised the coolant system to check for leaks.. . I think he took off the oil filler cap to listen for any air escaping, which would have indicated a hg problem. I'd want to see proof that either or both of these tests have been carried out, but it's very rare for a TDCi hg to go, but I'm more familiar with the 2 litre version. Hopefully someone else on this forum will contribute some thoughts...1 point

Those rattles can take some time to find. I was adamant that the HUD screen was giving me ( the car) an intermittent rattle on uneven roads to the point that I switched it off and 5 mins later it returned and found it to be the outlet blowers in the centre console that was causing it.1 point

Really?? Did you see the on street celebrations as England scored those 4 goals? LOL1 point

I have a 2020 Focus St-Line, sorry for all your issues, my wheels are fine, annoying rattles in the cabin appeared which seems sorted using tiny bits of foam inside the glove box and the box below the headlight switch, I do not what you mean with the door card and sill, thinking of sticking car on it when I take my car for a service, they don't seem to care, I can get in and out without scuffing them.1 point

Entirely correct buddy, but I should have added, that those like you who unfortunately can't take the vaccination, have more than enough sense to protect yourself. You don't need the entire population to be locked in their house. You assess your risk everyday, just as I do, we're adults, and it would be nice for the government to treat us as such.1 point

No doubt the betting firms will offer you odds on that!๐ I wouldn't be surprised to see tighter restrictions at some point but Boris has pledged "no more lockdowns" so they'll have to call it something else.1 point

This is mine,it has the 3 sensors so the top 2 are outside back door and top of garden under car port and the 3rd is the Fridge and bottom one is just the inside room temp, had it for years off Amazon and i like the option where you can set an alarm if it goes to low or high which i have done for the fridge.1 point

Let's hope it's as good as the first. I'm going to the diddly squat shop tommorow to have a look round. Going on my motorbike due to the traffic that builds up on the approaching roads. I'm only 25 mins away. If I see him I will give him some grief like Kaleb. ๐๐๐๐๐1 point
