Are all 2017 focus titanium supposed to have LED day lights?

Featured Replies

When I bought my 2017 focus Titanium I remember the dealer saying that another nice thing about the titanium models are the LED day lights.

I never actually checked until today and couldn’t see any LED day lights. Is there anything broken or was he just wrong?

You should have DRL, but they only work if you have your car lighting set to automatic.

Yeah meant to have drl and doesn't need to be in auto setting.

Someone in here a while ago also had drl missing but had an extra goodie in adaptive cruise control so maybe various options out there.

Check see you have other titanium options though

Think all from.2016 check if you have led stripes on top of headlight

The Focus MK3.5 was available with 4 different type of headlights:

* Halogen headlights without DRL.
* Halogen Headlights with halogen DRL (H15 dual filament bulbs for combined DRL/high beam).
* Halogen Headlights with LED DRL.
* HID Headlights with LED DRL.

Which headlights are installed depends on the market (country) and the trim/option level.

The European type approval of the Focus MK3.5 is the same as the Focus MK3 type approval. This type approval was awarded in 2010 before the DRL lights became mandatory. This means that vehicles produced according to the Focus MK3/MK3.5 type approval do not need to have DRL lights.

I checked again and had a close look at the headlights. No LEDs and can’t see any strips in there.

I noticed I’m the only 17 plate Focus without them I could see.

I found this document on the ford webpage which says I should have them as standard feature:

https://www.ford.co.uk/content/dam/guxeu/uk/documents/feature-pdfs/FT-Focus.pdf

i always have the lights on automatic and don’t have any other extra features.

You could check ETIS and see what he build sheet says?

https://www.etis.ford.com/

You'll need to register as 'Register as an IO' if you don't have an account already but it's handy to see what options you have/don't have on your specific build

Thanks for the tip. Just registered and looked it up. It says:

Front and Rear Lamp LED

Black headlamp bezels.

I can definitely see the black bezels but Now LED lights. When I have the car on auto headlights there are no lights at all during the day.

Was it new when you bought it?

Now we need someone WITH DRLs to check and see what theirs says...

What market was the car build for according to ETIS?

Was it build for the UK market or for a different market (for example Cyprus)?

OK, looked up a plate from Autotrader for a 2013 (63) Titanium and ETIS has this entry

- Less Daytime Running Lamps

Just checked. Mine says that as well.

It does say though it has front and rear lamp LED. Weird

You may have LEDs as the main lights (dipped, main, rear, etc.) but it looks like you don't have DRLs

That’s probably it. Doesn’t look like LED.

Kinda disappointing as I was told all Titanium’s have dayltime LEDs. Not the end of the world though.

The brochure would suggest that everything from Zetec S and above should have DRLs...hmmm

MK3.5 Brochure

BUT page 25 only seems to highlight the Titanium X as having them...

Yep, standard on the X optional on the regular

However, the latest brochure on the Ford website says that both models have DRLs

Current Ford Focus Brochure

And this isn't the 2018 Focus AFAIK (that's not online yet)

That’s what confused me too.

The brochure is from June 2017. Mine was registered in March 2017.

Maybe they added it later?

When you put your side lights on or unlock the car do you get a halogen bulb light up? If so then you don't have LED running lights and the option was never added to the car. ETIS isn't always accurate.

From the MY 2017 brochure (came before the MY 2017.5 brochure), shows as optional for the Titanium:

That’ll explain it.

Kinda sad though. I can hardly see any cars on the road past 2016 that haven’t got them. Would expect that to be standard.

My 2015 Titanium doesn't have Drl's and I doubt the 2017 Titaniums have them as a standard item either. They are part of appearance pack as far as I know.  I'm going to look into fitting Xenon's maybe next year when my warranty with the dealer is up. Will not bother with the washers as what use is a bit of water been sprayed onto the lights going to achieve 🤔! I Will keep them clean anyways.

etis can be wrong sometimes can ay you dont have something to tell in nextline you have it.

The DRLs come as part of the appearence pack on the Titanium model, i had it added onto my 17 plate. You got larger alloy wheels, tinted windows and DRLs.
