Cornering Lights

Featured Replies

Thanks for pointing this out. I ordered a Sport Van back in November and hadn’t realised that the cornering lights would be a different colour temperature to the LED headlights. I’ll get some replacements ordered from CEUK when I have a delivery date!

Thanks Martin.

I had seen the CEUK video, and indeed CEUK is where I sourced my LED H11s, but their video shows them being fitted to a Fiesta ST, which has a completely different fog lamp installation to that on the standard Fiesta.

As far as I know they haven't done a similar video for the standard Fiesta. 🙁

What did you think of the bulbs in my link?  The fitting video shows them in action at the end of the guide, as you say its on the ST but it will give you a good idea of the colour output.

Go on, be brave and have another bash at it. Save yourself a fortune in garage fees, if you decide to go to a garage then don't go to Ford and pay their prices.

If you lived close to me id happily give you a hand, but I doubt you are anywhere close lol

I have a box of two CEUK H11s sitting on my table, exactly like the ones in the video, (they look good in the video), and beside them are the Osram Night Breakers from your other link.

My 'cunning plan' is to ask a reasonably friendly local garage I deal with to put the car up on their lift and remove the front wheels and liners for me. If they have any legal jitters fitting LEDs, I intend asking them to let me do the actual bulb changeover myself, (which is the easy bit once I have good access), after which they can replace the wheels etc. They will then not technically have done anything that isn't 'road legal'.

Failing that I might well have to have another bash, but I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for crawling about on the ground out in the elements these days. I just can't leave the fitted halogens working as cornering lamps though; they do look really awful.

Thanks everyone for your help and support over this. It is just a shame that Ford don't seem able to include a more elegant solution in their 'Full LED Headlamps' option.

Hi All.

..... it has 'cornering lamps', which come on when the steering wheel is turned,.... They look really naff.

.... they are completely useless. I cannot detect any extra illumination on either side when I am driving the car at all, presumably because they're so much dimmer than my LED headlamps.

Does anyone know:-.....would removing the bulbs cause any knock-on problems, such as system error messages being thrown up or the like?

Thanks in advance.

The RTA requires that all lamps fitted to vehicles must be functional, effective and correctly rated/positioned etc. So the simple answer is NO, you CAN'T just remove the bulbs. I'd imagine you'd aso receive an error that the bulbs had "failed".

That said, if anyone can find a way to disable the cornering light function I'd be only too grateful to hear it. The lamps must still function as fogs for use in fog or falling snow conditions when visibility is 100m or less. I've come across some weird ideas but this one is among the weirdest, especially the fogs turnong on when reverse is selected! Absolutely crackers!

I'd also like to be able to stop the main lighting defaulting to automatic. Please, Ford, leave me SOMETHING to do other than point and go!

Hi, If you convert your fog bulbs to LED you will need to ensure they can fade as cornering function fades in and out. If they don't you will get a fault code and the cornering will stop working but the manual fogs will still work off the switch.

You could upgrade them to Osram lasers or similar or you can use Forscan to deactivate cornering function in the BCM
