while is was in the dealer has updated my sync 3 to version 3.3 build 18351.

however the maps remain as F7 ...?

F8 maps are available for most Sync 3 systems. However Ford seem to have some sort of problem with updates for the MY18.5 versions of the Sync h/w. See this thread

a number of us have complained to Ford about the situation and they say an update is expected shortly. Probably worth adding yourself to the complaint, they more they get maybe it will prod them into action (i doubt it!) Apparently current vehicles are being delivered with F8 maps...

Even though my in car sync 3 system tells me it’s been updated, the ford web site still advises updates available. When I get in the car it ask if I want to connect to WiFi to complete the update. I always Say yes but nothing happens and it asks again next time I’m in the car.

any theory or suggestions?

@Andyr55 There is a later update than 18025, mines updated to 18351, it may be offering you that. Other than that, updates to the sync application should write an xml file to the USB stick. You then go back to the ford update site and upload the xml file  via the 'confirm update' link here https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/ That informs the ford systems that the update has been done. If you didn't get an xml file for some reason , then you can download the 'interrogator' update from the troubleshooting link here https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/ .

That runs as a normal update but just interrogates the system and generates an xml file with the current state. You can then upload that xml file via the 'confirm update' link here https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/

18025 is the latest for the "old" sync 3 system (pre 19MY). F8 is only out for the "old" sync 3 system, F7 is latest maps for "new" sync 3.

So if I have 18351 the F7 map is the latest?

Afaik, that's correct. At least until Ford release the "new" Sync 3 version of F8 maps.

Just keep checking their website, it's always been on there as soon as it becomes available for me.

Version 3.3 Build 19052 is available on the Sync update site as of this morning
