Heater cools engine temp

Featured Replies

I drive coaches. It used to be a ScaniaPB hence my screen name.

My current regular drive (not a Scania) has a Webasto heater fitted in the coolant circuit and is very impressive. On a cold morning I can have a good supply of blasting warm air as I drive out of the depot.

The problem with these large vehicles is that there is not enough waste engine heat into the coolant, even from an 11 litre engine, to warm up the passenger saloon in a timely manner. The boss economised on some recent coach purchases by not specifying a Webasto heater and it was not a popular move with the drivers or passengers who might have joined in the first hour of running.

My current Webasto unit has been in action for 5 years and has always worked well.

More than I can say about my Focus air con system!

ScaniaPBman.
