Fiesta 1.6 engine remap worth it?

Featured Replies

Hey guys

Looking for a bit of advice on whether a remap of my 1.6 petrol is worth it or not is there anyone who has had it done that could perhaps share if the gain was noticable and worth it.

Thanks

Remap waste of money on normally aspirated engines( no turbo)

Save your money then buy a car with more power.

You won't really get much or any noticeable gains with a NA engine remap.

While a remap will give good results on most turbocharged engines, tuning normally aspirated cars usually involves more work and expense. For example, Mountune do their MP140 upgrade to 140ps, but that includes intake and exhaust mods in addition to a remap and at (I think) just under £1500 fitted is a lot of money. Compare that with, say, a Superchips Bluefin on a 125 ecoboost which gives you around 155ps and a lot more torque for under £400.

As @iantt suggests, it may be better to save your cash to put towards something with more power (or tuning potential) when you are in a position to change cars.
