MK6 Finesse to ST conversation

Featured Replies

Hi guys! Looking for some advice regarding my 2004 MK6 Fiesta Finesse. Found an MOT failure 2006 Fiesta ST 1.6

I was looking to purchase the MOT failed car and take the interior and exterior styling off the ST and swap into my Finesse!

In my head it sounds simple but I imagine there will be several issues I will come across so my question is will the ST parts fit into my 2004 finesse using standard brackets and holes or will there be modifications and custom brackets need fitting to make this swap work?

Any answers regarding this would help greatly! Appreciate your time

Joe

The ST is a 2.0 btw, not a 1.6.

Most stuff will be a straight swap assuming they're both 3 door models?  If you're buying the whole car as a donor you'll have all brackets etc to swap over.

Is there any particular reason you don't want to just buy an ST?  It'll be much cheaper & easier to insure than a modified Finesse.  ST looks without the go will be a bit odd if I'm being honest!

Hi there. This is my first post so hope I’m not breaking protocol on not formally introducing myself. I’ve been on forums before so generally know how to behave myself. That said, a big hello to one and all and thanks for having me.
Given the subject of this thread I am certainly invested in the same thing. The OP would be the exact question I would ask. I have a reason, well several. I want learn more about cars, doing them up and I feel completely vulnerable when I go to a garage. When mum goes, it’s even worse! So:

1. I have a 2004 Fiesta Finesse, the last I understand to be built in Cologne, Germany. It’s remarkable how well built this little Fiesta is. Aside from some of the plastics perishing, they really don’t build them like they used to.

2. I like the fact that it’s simple. No air con, mechanical window levers, a radio that nobody unless they are insane will want to steal. That’s quite convenient seeing the central locking seems to do its own thing. As does the cabin interior lighting! I can jump start in, even in reverse! I’m guessing the Alternator needs replacing as I put a new battery in recently. Maybe it hasn’t been driven enough?

3. With 50k on the odometer it has to be one of the healthiest 20 year old cars on the road.

4. It handles superbly, I’ve driven a Focus with a larger engine, this is lighter, maybe not 1..6 cc, it’s a 1.25 cc but it would be an interesting race.

5. Ideally this would be a track car as I’m after a AMG A Class 45 as a daily drive.I literally love that car, it’s frightening how quick and the luxury inside is lovely.

So, I’m off to get some Alloys and Tyres first then I thought I’d go from there. If anyone has tried upgrading their Finesse to an ST, please let me know. I live in Exeter, the cars in mums name so insurance is sweet, and this car is a hobby, a learning experience and hopefully a very good car to kick off with. ST engine should drop in, EBay is chock full of spares and its lines are modern enough not to look too ridiculous.

Any suggestions on custom garages in Devon area, further reading, websites and any major pitfalls I need to know would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
