Kuga phev recall

Featured Replies

I questioned my dealership and was told they weren’t aware of the extended warranty but 3 services show against my car although not really services as 2 are just checks & 1 service in year 2. So they aren’t really giving that much.

Honestly the only hybrids I'd trust at the moment are toyota/Lexus.  I know people with BMW and Merc hybrids with similar horror stories.

  • Hi All, Have just had a call from my dealership they are expecting delivery of the battery packs from Ford 25th Jan onwards so they are taking bookings to get them done, so we seem to be inching

  • Probably

I've not heard anything about extended warranty either. Only standard extended warranty is on the battery pack and components.

I've seen this post and obviously a lurker since moving to America.  This almost sounds like the power drain issue hybrids such as the Cmax and Fusion had in 2013.  Finding the 12V needs a jump start.  It was eventually fixed but seeing it in the UK Kuga doesn't sound good.

People have talked about the "Standard warranty" but this powertrain/battery here has a 8year/100k 8year/150k california warranty and considering the transmission is apart of the hybrid system it is also apart.  Please tell me your phev has the same in the UK.  Otherwise, thats ***** rubbish and wrong!

Eitherway my Fusion energi is in the shop and ALL parts are delayed for a trans strip down due to the transmission E-CVT grinding at 5 mph. 28kmiles Just purchased another Cmax to replace my 2014 94k miles from Carvana as well.  They are for the most part very reliable cars.  I couldn't fault my Cmax. Energi  I believe the kuga/escape went with an updated 2.5 Atkinson Cycle engine vs the 2.0 Atkinson cycle.  They just need to get their **** together. tbh.  But, with Corona expect massive delays for parts/updates.

I've been without my gem since October last year.

In Germany Kuga owners get an extra fuel card of 300 euro OR an Elvi EV Box for at home. This on top of the 500 euro fuel card and the extended warranty.

Anyone in the UK heard about this offer? I haven't heard anything like this in NL....

Am I one of the first to have their car sorted out.  They are also giving me a car, like for like for the 3 days.

How are your first impressions? Is it the same batterypack or is it bigger?

Got kuga

on Saturday from dealership they said battery 🔋 upgrade had been done in Valencia with 2 other recalls

Pleased with car , all good put battery says stops chatting and full on car but only says 25 mile range on electric?

and app is good but electric range doesn’t agree with car ?

confused I am how long does others take to charge up ?

Good morning, I am joining this forum to see if anyone else is in the same position as us. We ordered and paid a deposit for our Kuga Phev on the 13th July last year, we were advised we would receive the car two weeks later, this was then moved to the 8th August. The next thing we were told that the car was stuck in Dagenham awaiting transport to the dealership.  Roll on September when we get a call to say come in, the car has arrived...so we go to Trust Ford Epsom and are told the good news is that the car is there and can we sign up to start the direct debit etc....I questioned whether the new battery/part had been fitted and was told no, the part isn't here so we couldn't have the car. Since then we have had nest to no contact with the dealership and only found out online that a fix had been found. We contacted the dealership in December and were told that all 'on the road cars' will be prioritised and that the fixes are due to take place between 28th December and the end of February. We have heard nothing, so I emailed head office yesterday and received a paltry apologies for the inconvenience reply, which also stated that there was a delay and that cars at the dealership won't even start to be fixed until April. I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall.  I would appreciate any thoughts/advise on who I could contact about this as I don't feel it fair that we paid a deposit for the car in July and are unlikely to get that car before May! Also, has anyone had a Kuga which was not previously on the road fixed and released to them? THanks

Hi we ordered ours the same time as yours , then stop on production coz of Battery 🔋 issue , little contact then told car was in Dagenham when we raised subject , then car was in Valencia!!! Strange it went back , then waiting game

collected car last Friday , asked if battery’s had been swapped , told us that they had been done at Valencia

with 2 other recalls also .

charged car different times and can’t get EV range no more than 23-25 miles when all books and figures say 35 mile range on THE EV, waiting for response with dealer about this matter !!!

So my car went to garage this morning asked them about the range & was told that it’s due to the colder weather & will not get full range at this time of the year. Apparently there is weekly webinar for all dealerships which took place today & this was mentioned & confirmed but also there might be another recall coming to do with the 12v battery as it keeps loosing power, which mine does can’t listen to the radio if parked as closes down within 2 mins so they are going to keep my car over the weekend & hope the recall comes through after the weekend so everything can finally be sorted out rather than it having to go back again

Hi, my dealership phoned today apparently when I collect the car there will be a letter offering me either additional £300 fuel card, a charging point or can donate to a CO2 charity.

Hello Darcey

is this when you car has battery change ?

ours was done at Valencia factory and never getting above 29 miles !!!

phoned dealer spoke to salesman / phev man , no reply after him saying he would consult technician about my matter !!

Hi, yes the battery pack has been changed but car still with dealership till Monday to see about this recall with the 12v battery. But they were very clear that would not get the same range in the cold weather as did during the warmer weather before told to stop charging. Will see what happens when I actually get to collect.

Just actually looked on Ford Pass App she is showing from last night 94% charge which is 28 miles so will keep an eye on that & see

Fully charged car today , stopped when was full , all blue lights full to top , in charging socket , car displayed 100% charge but range only 24 miles , getting fed up with charge issue as battery’s replaced at factory 🏭, and want to get full range its supposed to as claimed , even salesman said should be achieving 35 miles from full charge

Hi, assume this is what’s showing on the dash, it will change as you drive just like your mpg change ie what is left in the tank & how many miles you have left. The more economical the better you get, but it’s also about learning what suits the car, your style of driving & also the outside temp you won’t get some much when cold. I was just working this all out last year when told to stop charging so will have to get used to it all again.

Hi Darcey

Is that extra reward ie fuel or charge point just from your dealer or is it a national offer ?

charged ours fully again 💯 % charged and only 24 miles on range

and this was fully charged at a supermarket pod point

I assume the offer is from Ford as they said there would be a letter with all my paperwork confirming what works had been carried out & I would then get a phone call asking what I wanted to do, but will confirm once I have actually get the car back, depending on this additional recall they told me about which is supposed to be issued this weekend.

I collected my car today everything seems to be done ok all up dates have been done. They did make a point of telling me that the battery mileage would not be the same as I was getting last summer as weather is colder, but if once it warms up still not getting higher miles to let them know. Also got letter from Ford with the additional offers.

Hi darcey

how are you getting on with kuga now ?

what sort of miles it showing after charge now ?

It’s warmed up now and ours is still only showing 25 miles on full charge , gave garage some grace been a week now , no call back as saying they was going to consult technician as to see what they said !!

The kuga battle continues 🙃

Warm weather has arrived now +10 some days , kuga is only still showing 25 miles on full charge , contacted dealer and he then spoke to technician (master) he said it take up to 1000 mikes for battery to achieve full MPG , oh I said that’s strange !!

he said that’s how it is !! But don’t wait that long maybe 900 miles or so then contact us back , after new battery’s being changed at factory Valencia, I smell another rat ( problem ) whats mpg others doing after battery changed I’m intrigued

Hi, so I can’t have a home charger but just been shopping & car was plugged in for an hour was showing 81% charged with 30 mile range. Hoping next week to charge on house plug so will be doing a full 100% charge so will see what that shows, but loving have the car back to normal & having the full choice of EV ranges & the choice of how I want to drive it.

Just had a thought Rogue 1 don’t forget your car is not run in yet although they say you don’t need to do that it does get better the more miles you get on it might be why they are saying 900 to 1000 miles before going back to them

HI Darcey

had several charges now , various from 25 to 30 miles on 100% did notice , comparing the phev Miles to speedo change were different for instance when for phev range dropped

to next mile and checked speedo the varied lots of times almost like they were out of calibration/ not communicating with each- other

interesting comment from sales man after sale and correspondence he said had been to all phev meetings for ford to help sell car , and he said they were told that they never reach 100% charge !!! Odd this seems

will keep eye 👁 on what they do in future

Hi all - my Kuga Phev is sitting on the drive and has done for the past two months - system is completely dead - it's due to have its head examined in the next two weeks (battery refit etc) - I'm wondering if I can get it going by hooking up a charger to the terminals under the bonnet (as the 12v battery is in the boot and inaccessible) - I think I've located the positive terminal (under a little red cover on the right hand side of the engine) - so is the negative the contact just up and to the left (black cover)?  Would you recommend doing this, just to get it going.....???
