Ford fiesta diesel DPF problem

Featured Replies

I bought a brand new ford fiesta titanium a few months ago but unfortunately i visit the garage every month.

The engine lamp keeps appearing on the dashboard without apparent reason.

They keep reffering to the way it should be driven and it makes me mad because in that case they must choose where to sell it .

If there is anyone else in europe with the same problem i will appreciate it if we get in touch in order to communicate it yo ford because they are practically do not have a solution.

only thing I can think of is if your doing short journeys then the DPF clogs and fills up and it needs 'blowing out' on the motorway

I have a similar problem only the strange thing is i bet no one can work out what it is .

On A Fiesta 2019 1.5 Diesel , 28k miles-- short journeys.

Engine light comes on , used a snap on scanner said  broken DPF-- tried a cleaner , light comes back on after x2 days.

I tried the 4000 rpm motorway clear out , no light still comes back on BUT,

If i use the ECO button the light never comes back on again !

Still drives the same , same power , just got to use a little more throttle.

Get it fixed or just use eco button !!!?

How much is the bet? :whistling:

If the DPF is broken, no amount of cleaner will fix it.

Using the Eco Mode reduces boost & torque (even if you can't feel it) which reduces exhaust pressure, and removes the sudden 'surge' from harsh acceleration.  I'd guess that either the fault is with the DPF sensor, and it's not being triggered because the pressure differential is never as large.  Or it's getting blocked with soot, but the sensor can't detect it because there's less pressure differential, so it will come back eventually.

How many miles have you done now without the light coming back?  And can remember what the actual fault code was?
