OBD port and Motion detecting Keyfob

Back to your original question. To test your fobs are going to sleep, just leave them in the car for a few minutes then without disturbing them, try starting the car. I forgot about the fobs going to sleep and when at work I wanted to move a fiesta , I thought the battery had gone flat or the keys had been removed. 😂😂

Hi Ian,

So I  switched on the keyless locking function on the fiesta dashboard.

Sat in car with ignition off open and closed drivers door as if I had left car.

Placed keys on floor.

Waited 2 minutes

Engine started first time, without any movement of keys.

Not sure if I am testing right here.

Cheers,

Steve

I take it you were still sitting on the seat.   Wonder if the seatbelt switch detected you.

Good point Bob,

Will leave keys in car then leave and rejoin it to see (safe to do now with disklok 🙂 )

OK, so tried by leaving keys in for at least 10 mins on passenger seat

Went back carefully opened doors, engine started 1st time.

So I can only presume my 2019 model although first registered August 2019 may have been manufactured before April 2019 when the new safe obd port and sleeping key was introduced.

Will see if Ford UK phone me back as promised this coming week and let you know.

I can check it's build date. Pm me your reg
