I have accidentally smashed a tail light on my ST3 MK8. I reversed onto pavement to let ambulance pass and hit lamp post :(

it looks like the structure is fine but the red outer plastic is smashed. Does anyone know what part I need to get? Is this an LED light?

can I just get an outer casing to replace the broken one?

Is this the same part as is on the ST line edition?

They are the same. All lights on mrk8 fiesta rears are led. Pic of my mrk 8 st line x rear lens.

So do i need to replace the whole item or is there a way to put a new red glass outer shell on it?

you will have to buy the whole light unit. Whether there is an inner & outer not sure.

You'll need to replace the whole cluster. The plastic lenses aren't available separately.

Can usually get part numbers on 7zap but the Mk8 is too new to be on there unfortunately.  There are loads on ebay though, choice of genuine new, genuine used, or aftermarket new, depending on your budget.  One example below -

H1BB13404AH seems this is the official part number. Although your link is for passenger side. Assume it should be straight forward to change and comes with the led lights pre installed.

personally you have a new car just buy original from ford will at least have a guarantee if you have any problems.

They keep tinkering with the specs, but the lower trim levels did not get LED rears. When I got mine I think it was Titanium upwards, but certainly ST-Line/X and ST always seemed to have them.

Looking at my brochure dated Jan 2019, only the Zetec and ST-line have non-LED rear lights, the rest have LEDs.

So it looks like the part numbers above are not LED. is it a completely different socket for LEDs? So will be a different part?

Showing as non led on some listing. So confusing. Why can Ford not just have one number for each thing

just give you REG No to ford and they will give correct part.

looks like your bumper needs aligning/damaged too.

 Doubt it will be cheap. Maybe an insurance claim now?

Depends on a lot of factors do you have reversing sensors. If you are lucky bumper will clip back in place.

Its a shame this has been caused by an emergency vehicle. Personally i would never bump up kerbs or move out the way could damage your car/alloys; just as soon as notice them position my car in such away the vehicle can drive round. I have friends that have been prosecuted for going through red lights for moving.
