MK8 ST3 20.25 Tail light broken

Featured Replies

How did you catch the offside on a lamp post?

The pic link didn't work when I first saw the thread but I did wonder how you'd broken the light without damaging the bumper....  Is it scuffed or just popped out?

Personally I'd buy a used genuine light...if it goes in for warranty work, how will Ford know it wasn't the original?

I was thinking the same. But most of the cheap lights have visual defects. Not sure how the bumper clips back. Its only moved a few mm.

Gave the bumper a small shove and has sat back nice and lined up all round. Think I got lucky.

Least somethings going your way just got to get hold of lense as you will get pulled driving car around in that condition.

I was wondering about that. Need to go out in an hour and will be dark. Dog to vets. What's the penalty

If you get stopped just say its only just happened. Worst case £60 fine and 3 points. Or rectification notice which means you have to have car fixed within 14 days or fine/court appearance if continue to use.

If you Google hanon systems autopal hulk on Google maps you will find the factory that makes all the lights for Ford in Europe.

Just take it steady over speed bumps and potholes. 😉

Get a red Sharpie and colour it in, no one will be any the wiser.

Not sure if joking. Possible but don't think it should move

Do you know what your insurance excess is and if your no claims are protected?  I get the feeling you're not a teenager so presumably insurance isn't expensive.  Might be best just to make a claim and get a brand new light fitted if you're after perfection.

Looks like the same unit thats on the St-Line X model.

Because they are "LED" but the only actual led part about it that it says, is the break light, see bottom of image. Had this out to swap the indicator bulb which is halogen. Replaced it with a autobeam LED unit

would imagine led brake light part is different fitting to standard bulb.

My excess is 350. Dont want the issue of declaring it every year and increased premiums especially if total cost can be 65 quid.

you dreaming again🤣 are you buying and fitting.

65 quid inc delivery. Its yet to be dispatched. I will fit it myself. Should be straight forward? I fitted my own engine torque mount. I have done my own brakes in the past.
