Louder Exhaust

Featured Replies

If you want your exhaust to sound louder, wind down your window and stick your head out, that would do it! a really good way to draw attention to yourself and people waving a hand at you, not in a circular motion either. The legal noise limit in the UK on all cars is 76db (decibels).

Entrapment!

Indeed.  Yet they won't do anything about the dealing that happens at roughly the same times and days on my road.  Or the mindless vandalism that's massively increased this year.  Or the cyclists on the pavement.  Or the dog owners leaving ***** everywhere.  Or the flytipping down every country lane...

Car guys are an easy target.  Most of society already hates us anyway.    If anything, a loud exhaust is a safety and security improvement.  Everyone can hear you coming so pedestrians shouldn't randomly step out (pushbikes and electric cars are the dangerous ones!) and you're going to know immediately if someone attempts to steal the car from your driveway.  Imagine the face of the crook that presses the start button at 3am and wakes the entire street!

You would have more luck getting tranquillisers to make the kids sleep than seeing a policeman pull a motorist for loud exhaust round here.

What's a policeman?🙄

I didn't know that.   Just trying to find out how loud 76 db is and came across this:   Passenger car at 65 mph at 25 ft (77 dB); freeway at 50 ft from pavement edge 10 a.m. (76 dB).  Living room music (76 dB); radio or TV-audio, vacuum cleaner (70 dB).

Apparently, 80 db is twice as loud as 70 db.

I have a loud button on my dash on my AMG for exhaust which operates a valve resulting in cracks and bangs like a rally car. When i first had the car gave it the beans and overtook a car just as it banged. Got home this old dear i over took followed me cus she thought i hit her wing mirror and damaged it. Thought she would of checked it before confronting me.🤣
