Android Auto and Sony Radio

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2015 Fiesta with a Sony radio. I want to install a Pioneer sphda230dab but have been told it is not possible owing to the lack of replacement fascia (?). I have also been told it is not possible to replace the Sony radio with any other radio either. Can anybody clarify this for me please? I have researched across the internet and obtained conflicting stories about what is and is not possible to do. Any help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Both are possible. The double din fascias are ridiculously ugly in the mk7 fiesta so there's that to consider.

You can replace with a satnav/dab unit from a mk7 facelift with a bit of fiddling about (there's guides for both on the forum)

I'm still unsure as to how to proceed. My radio is shown in the attached photo. I have just been in touch with a car audio fitter who also tells me it can't be done.

Many thanks for the help so far.

Sorry, my original post is that I would like to replace the sony radio in my 2015 Fiesta with a Pioneer sphda230dab but I have been told that it isn't possible because of the aftermarket fascia (?)

You would need to fit a double din

thanks very much for the prompt reply. I'm not sure why the car audio chap says it can't be done. I will continue to investigate.

Thanks

The facing only about £53

Not sure why Ford and android are pain was the same in the st and the eco sport more a pain because of rear camera and voice activated stuff just butcher a few wire looms up unlit it works lol 🤣

Hey I have the same radio, Sony.  Just pulled it out to see only one plug in the rear, did you end up finding a solution?

Hi trying to do that same here, Sony stereo with only one plug at the back. How did you get on?

thanks

I've seen people upgrade the radio with a newer model with android auto, with new cable harnas, new radio unit, new display etc, but I can image this is expensive as the radio alone goes for 400euros+ and well then you still need a display antennas etc.

My facia (2014 Titanium X Auto) is the same as Daves and therefore, I assume, so is my Sony radio,CD player, Sat Nav etc.  I have no issue with it other than the DAB programmme display can only show two pages of programme information.  There's almost always more.  The rest I have to guess.

I didn't know that any if it was Android driven.  I thought it was Microsoft for Ford Synch.

Sat Nav is a little out of date though.

it can be done but it wasn't easy although I'm not an expert.Untitled_bmp.thumb.jpg.ba9cfe93407b5dc2fccba8a52b899e0a.jpg

This was my original attempt but I didn't like how it looked and picked up terrible reflections.

This is the facia I have now. it doesn't suffer from reflections and is angled to the driver better.
