Can anyone tell me where can I obtain documentary confirmation of the date of manufacture of a MK1 Escort. I have the VIN plate, but no reg docs. The DVLA have asked for proof of the date of manufacture.

    If you have a VIN plate, then the two letters before the last sequence of numerals might give you the build month and year.  What I don't know is when this system was introduced, so might not apply to a Mk1 Escort. it might be worth looking at AVO Owners Club, who probably cater for more MK1 Escort RS and Mexico owners
