Mk8 Alarm Issue?

Featured Replies

Morning

Hope everyone is keeping well.

Recently bought a Mk8 ST Line, to replace my Mk7 ZS. Loving it...apart from one niggle.

The Alarm decides to go off an random times.

Nothing is loose or moving inside, and all things that should be closed, locked etc are so..

Any ideas?

Thanks, Steve

Spider or fly in there ?

Something like that crossed my mind, but I've had a good look about. Nothing seems to be lurking about..

I have read elsewhere that if the battery has a low charge it may set the alarm off?

It looks to have had a replacement aftermarket one before I bought it, so may not have had the BMS reset done, and thinks its still got a low battery charge perhaps?

Trial and error at present!

You might need a dealer to plug in and find out what is triggering it.

The car logs what sensor triggered the alarm.

Sometimes things like the bonnet or door sensor can play up.

I’m thinking that might be the best bet.
I did the BMS reset and it’s been fine for around 1.5 days but has gone off again 10 mins ago.
I have a genuine battery sat in the kitchen for it, so might try that as last ditch effort before I ring the main dealer to see if I can get it booked in.

Is it still within the 3 year warranty? If so report the fault to the dealer and have it looked into.

Hi Steve, intermmitent faults are always hard to track down. I assume you have the option in your dashboard setting that you can set the Alarm to 'Full Guard' or 'Part Guard'

Try just setting it to Part Guard (turns off the movement sensors inside) and see if the problem continues.

Thanks for that, ill give that a go, and see what happens.

Failing that, ill get it booked into the main dealer near me, and see what they come up with.

Thanks.

I've got the same problem too, I've got my alarm set as " Reduced Guard" and it still goes off random. I've clicked the lock button 1 time 2 times 3 times like a magic combo, Google, YouTube, loads of stuff, can the sensor be easily seen and cleaned or?...

You need to get set up with FORScan, it should tell you what set the Alarm off the last 4 times and allow you if necessary to see the status of the doors etc to see if they are showing as closed when they actually are.
