What version of cluster did you use?

Hi mate are you asking because you have the break light issue where is stays illuminated after 5 mins draining battery until it dies?

think someone on forscan forums has finally found a permanent fix for this issue, is to update ABS module firmware from KF to KG

That should resolve the break light issue staying on

  • Seemed to go quite well. Screen turns off a few seconds after locking the car, about the same as the central screen. Got my voltage reader plugged in to the 12V and not seeing any obvious drain.

I haven't fitted it yet, going to try at the weekend.

I only saw people saying on Forscan forums about the IPC running SXB (SAB) firmware fixing it.

Hi Alexp999

I did this retrofit no problems on my MK4 2019 1L 125 ST Line X.

I sourced another cluster that was from a similar focus version off eBay for £395 and its pretty much plug and play. I read the horror stories about the park brake light staying illuminated after vehicle shut down at the 5 minute mark after the door lock light turns off however this problem never popped up for me, the 'brake' symbol switched back off as it should and stayed off no issues. i just copied as-built from donor car of where cluster was pulled from. I do find it wierd  how this appeared to be hit and miss for people trying to retrofit this with same model clusters and still having the issues with the light staying illuminated to the point the battery is completely dead which doesn't take long in this situation.

That's because you, correctly, took your donor cluster from a Focus.

Those horror stories are from people using Puma clusters in a Focus.

Same cluster, different firmware

I indeed did think this was the case however people still had issues with the park brake light even using the correct firmware and cluster for the car installing to so appears hit and miss.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought the brackets for the Puma digital clusters were totally different so couldn't be fitted well at least correctly.

A few had used them on the FORScan forums so they must fit

Thought that was the case, Anyhow we now have 2 proposed fixes that fixes the park break light issue staying on after car has went to sleep.

1. Update ABS Module firmware from KF to KG

2.Update/Downgrade IPC firmware from 'SXC' to 'SXB' version type.

@alexp999 you'll have to let us know how you get on with the retrofit this weekend and see if you face this issue and are able to resolve it.

You can make it fit though, yes?

They must've been able to because that's what they were using

I cant see why people would take a cluster from any other model than what they have as logically you'd assume it would be completely different the puma one dont evem allow it to be screwed in .

My advice would be buy like for like inc fuel and gearbox to avoid potential issues from arising .

Plenty of people to help shouldnthe new arise and forfet about firmware flashing etc unless your 1000% sure you know what you are doing

My ABS firmware ends PD??

Its fits on the space just cant use the screws to secure it .

Check out oz sabre on youtube hes done a few cluster swaps just no videos on programming with forscan the different options

Like i said to alex personally i copied every screen in ipc dropdown menu  & didnt use the asbuilt menu as its  to confusing & it has to many options & combinations.

Then when installed changed it that way just easier in my mind

I do have sheets of anyone needs them

Wrote the asbuilt from a 2020 Focus ST with digital dash, I also had to use asbuilt to tell the IPC I didn't have a HUD. I tried it with Forscan's dropdown menu, but this only changed 1 bit and there are 2 for HUD, so I had a DTC until I fixed that.

Me too ( being ancient), but that's "Walking on  broken glass" of course!😀

@alexp999 Nice extra sweet that you get the performance gauges with it being a proper ST and not an ST Line version, One thing to check is to check does your tyre pressures show on the digital cluster? Also you need to fully shut down the car and wait 5 mins for the door lock light to go off before checking to see if the cluster backlight has remained off as this is the point the cluster wakes up and doesn't shut down as it should do.

I've got one that I'm selling from a 2021 focus st if anyone is after one it's got 9400 miles showing

I've checked it about 20-30 mins after locking, a few hours and the next day before unlocking, the screen is always off.

Tyre pressures show up no problem.

The car has actually been only charging the battery when off throttle, it's usually reading 12.4V while I'm on throttle, so it's at target SoC.

Looks like your all good then pal, I was fortunate not to experience the handbrake issue either however for some weird reason my tyre pressures don't show up for me, they did on analogue but not digital, mine just says hold to store values or something similar, never got to the bottom of it tbh.

I left mine at 80% factory soc too, I'm thinking maybe doing a back up and trying with another asbuilt to see if I can get tyre pressures to show as everything else works drive modes etc but don't want to create other issues when its working 99%. Anyone offer any advice to get tyre pressures to show its a weird one, no dtc's etc everything all green and works as it should so happy to forget about it also

Where are you looking at tyre pressures?

Mine only show if I have it as a selected screen. The menu item only gives the option of storing the value.

That's the thing mate, it doesn't show as a selected screen, calm screen, trip computer, seatbelts auto stopstart screens are all there as well as lane assist etc just nothing shows for tyres pressures if that's what you mean its like its missing when it shouldn't be, I then deep into the settings pane on the cluster itself and can see tyre pressure setting but that only takes you to a window to hold select to store values if that makes sense, as a workaround i just use ford pass to look at my tyre pressures so i know everything is working as it should so doesn't make much sense on why its missing.

thank you for trying to help also.

So if you go to select screens, there is no option to enable tyre pressures?

nope doesn't give you the tyre pressure option unfortunately, its missing which is weird, i defo remember been able to see the pressures on my analogue cluster
