hey guys

new to owning a ford - i have a ford focus 2017 titanium with nav. 

Some people have told me that 3.4 is available but im on 3.0 and according to ford i am "upto date" i am on F10 maps but again when i go to ford owner site it says there is a 9.4gb download for maps and when i format usb into exfat and put those files on the usb i get error Navvoice_ERR01 

 

There is no notification to say i can download 3.4 so i am wondering what to do

I have a 67 plate Focus and am not getting the 3.4 update offer either, wonder if our units are not up to it? I had the VOICE ERR as above and the way I solved it was to plug in the USB stick with the previous update on (the massive update, which includes the missing voice files anyway). When I did this the update was fine and the voice error disappeared. Unfortunately for me it hasn't solved my no GPS issue. I thought it had as the sat nav worked fine for two days but now it is back.

Cars on Sync 3.0 will not receive an official update from Ford to 3.4. Ford are maintaining the 3.0 branch separately. You will get updates but staying on 3.0. You have to use third party unofficial tools if you want to force load 3.4. Doing that may stop Ford offering updates in future though. I.e once you start down the third party update tool path you’ll probably have to keep using that. 

ah ok thanks for the information alex i wouldnt use cyan labs as i dont know enoguh or trust it - i dont have the files of the old main update to fix the navvoice err01 .. is there another way i can solve that

Worth checking your downloads folder on your pc for the original zip file? Assuming that you didn't delete immediately?

one last question when i "download" the latest maps update on the ford owners website after entering my VIN when i put on usb i dont have 3 files i only have sync folder and autoinstall and not the 3rd file i used to have on my last download think it was DONTINDX or something similar

It should work without the DONTINDX file, it just takes a little bit longer to start the install process.

hi it did start and got to the install for 1st part complete please key cycle for part 2 continue but everytime i do that part 1 starts again and it will later tell me to do keycycle for part 2 and over and over again 😄

 

anyone know what to do next?

When it says key cycle it wants you to switch off the engine, get out of the car, lock the doors, wait two minutes, unlock the doors and re-start the engine. Did you do all of that?

yes tried this now about  10 times each time when i get back in car it "installs" then gets to the same point saying 1st part complete now needs key cycle

Have you tried getting a log file from the ford website? Even though it seems it’s not complete?…..

Have you tried not key cycling and see if it reboots itself? I know some of the updates say to power cycle but if you leave it, it restarts and completes the next part itself. Ford instructions aren't always right.

I went the unofficial route with cyanlabs to 3.4 it still uses the official Ford files to update, the only "unofficial" part being the leaked Ford reformat tool to repetition for 3.4.

im too noob for things like that as i wouldnt know what to do im not great with pc / extra things lol - using unofficial always scares me

@ColW might be on the right track when he said "Have you tried not key cycling and see if it reboots itself? ". Leave it at least 10 minutes after you get the message, before switching it off.

Just updated to SYNC 3.4.21265 Maps F10 with CyanLabs. Plugged in USB, installed, removed USB, job done.

Why are there no functions like "climate" or map on my sync? It's Focus 2017. This is *****.. only radio.

What trim level Focus do you have? Not all versions had satnav and climate.

According to ETIS it is an ST-Line with no Sat Nav. It does have climate control but I don't think that the climate controls appear on Sync 3.0 on a 2017 model.

You should get more than just radio. It should have a CD player and is able to play music from USB sticks.

It also has an Outstanding Field Service Action - 18S39 - CLUTCH SLIP DETECTION

Edit to add:

The sync software is out of date. If you update it here: https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/ you will probably be able to get Android Auto to display Google maps on the Sync screen.

Yes, it's STLine, but this is really poor. Can it at least be updated to 3.4 with navigation? From cyanlabs?

It has everything when I connect to phone. But I am very dissapointed when no phone connected. I don't need cd player.. who needs this nowadays?? I can play music from USB, phone,... but It's not what I hoped for. As asked on previous post... so, can't even update to have climate controls and heaters on display?? No map available without phone connection??

Well back in 2017 people still did have a few CD's.

Don't understand what the issue is with the climate controls, I have a 2019 Focus Mk4, and it didn't have the climate controls on the screen. I find the dials with the temprature display work just fine.

If you buy a 2017 ST-Line then it didn't come with SatNav as standard.

It seems like you should have checked out what was important to you before you bought the car. I would think the person who bought it new were very happy with it.

No. The non-nav APIM (the Sync computer) will not have enough storage capacity for navigation.

Well.. It was logical to me, if you have such big touch screen, it could at least have some functions beside radio. But yes, you are right.. I didn't check. It wasn't the most important thing, but as I said.. I just don't get it. But ok.. at least now I know it's rubbish.
