How much would it cost to swap in a k20 into my Mk6 fiesta?

Featured Replies

Since you'd have more luck at squeezing a drop of water out of a dry flannel than trying to get more than 10bhp out of the 1.25, the only logical step is to drop in a new lump.

I'm planning on fitting coil overs and and a rear disc conversion in the meantime so the swap won't be happening for a while

At a rough guess I'd say £2500-£3000 depending on where you go. A lot more than the cost of some coilovers and rear brakes that's for sure.

That isn’t the only logical step, the logical step is to not spend any money modifying this car, save up and buy a more powerful car.

Have to agree- save your money and get something newer!

I get your point but that would be boring. Besides owning something different that makes people turn their heads is far more satisfying than owning a brand new motor.

If you've got money and time to spend then do it, it would be a great learning experience....personally I would put the money towards replacing the car as save myself a load of stress.

Yes I agree, don’t modify it, just get another car. It would be money down the drain on a car that would not be worth much and have insurance complications for the rest of its life.but I’m a 58 year old miserable old git

Id probably take it of the road and do it bit by bit because I know insurance would be a  bomb, besides the shell is nearly perfect

Which sounds more impractical a k swapped fiesta or trying to fit a pd130 into a 106

Luke is right- likely more than the car is worth now, or ever would be.

A sound shell is nice but mate, it's a 2007 Mk6; sack it off and get something else!

Is there any reason you're wanting to cross marques?  It's much easier to stick a 2.0 ST engine in a Mk6, or a 2.0 GTI-6 engine in a 106.  Then you could show it off at marque specific events as well...  Mixing VW & Peugeot upsets enthusiasts...been there, done that!!

Insurance will still be a lot afterwards.

I've got a 10 year old Mondeo and have thought about getting it mapped (or bluefin) for about £400, which would increase my insurance by about £30...but you know what? I can't be bothered now and it's getting old. I'd sooner put that money towards my next purchase (Tourneo Custom sport 😎) ... although I just spent £7000 from that fund on solar panels 😂. That's me though, a bit old like @isetta but not miserable yet, just rational/sensible 😉

Their a rabid bunch 🤣 it's my mates 106 and a mate of his offered the motor out of a totalled Ibiza

You’d be best off buying a damaged or cheap EP3 and will have near all what you need. Apart from the obvious like custom mounts ect

4 years ago I had a EP2 and done the K20 swap which cost me around £2500 and that was just to get it running with no mods. I imagine a mk6 will be a fair bit more
