Some crazy things going on for sure. Pal of mine was thinking of swapping his Volvo V40 which is coming up to 3 years old. He's decided against for now, as nothing appeals, but meanwhile has had valuations for his car close to what he paid for it new! I think there are a whole load of people who are now never going to be able to find a car they particularly like anymore, what with the shift to SUVs, EVs, digital dashes, lack of physical controls, death of manual boxes, nannying safety devices, etc, etc.

I’ve got 20 months left then need to renew for a condition that they already know isn’t ever getting better! Ideally you could pick a nearly new car (golf 7 for you iirc?) especially with lead times etc on brand new. The value of used cars just now is incredible. Mine was 28k, now 2 1/2 years later 23k Review forms for me...hasn't even reached assessment stage yet due to huge backlogs but I'm hoping for another paper assessment as I can't talk on the phone. As Wino says, used car prices have stayed high due to the new car shortages recently. To get a 2019 Mk7 facelift Golf in the right spec is still £20k! Next quarter prices should be on the Motability website tomorrow…..as much as it’s a good deal it’s almost £10k over the 3 years. Some qualify but are also able to work , they’re in the land of milk and honey.. Ah, I've read about the DVLA backlogs as well. Trouble is DWP/DVLA just haven't had enough staff due to social distancing, self isolating because of contacts or illness, childcare, bereavement etc. Not much we can do except wait. I'm not in a rush tbf, I know I could easily lose the whole lot! Yeah, I'll be checking the MB site tomorrow. Says it should be updated by 10am. There's less than 1000 cars left on the scheme now, wonder if we'll lose any more! £10k plus a huge AP in some cases, and then the cost of optional extra's as well... Nearly a grand for DCC on the Golf for example! But it's money I hadn't had before so don't feel like I'd be 'losing' it. And I can't use public transport or taxi's so if it allows me to drive again I can't really put a price on that. Also just realised this is completely off topic for this thread...thought it was your 'competitors' thread lol!

Wino
When we moved house at end of September and sent our Licences in to be amended they were both back within 2 weeks which tbh I was quite surprised at.

Oh well Thing is the Golf Life is now the same price AP as the GTE was last year…. looking at maybe a Peugeot e 208. GT Premium (iirc) Full electric, just over £1k ap

Octavia SE Tech is half the AP of the Golf but I don't really want a saloon.
