Rear Parking Sensor - False Detection - How to Replace?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a mk2 2016 S-Max with factory fitted parking sensors. There are four on the rear and the second in from passenger side is picking up false readings, resulting in a continuous beep when in reverse. Both middle sensors at the rear have had their original painted coating come away, so I am presuming this false detection is as a result of corrosion.

Can anyone point me to a guide on removing the sensor and perhaps a reliable supplier where I can buy an original replacement.

Thanks in advance.

Parking sensors are normally clip in and out. Some are fixed by a bracket. To be honest ,just buy one from your local dealer as you know it’s compatible and might even already come colour coded. The paint flaking on the others sensors is not corrosion. That part you see on the outside is just a cover, the sensor is behind that.  Lie on your back  and look up the backside of the bumper you should see the rear of the sensors and harness and how to detach everything. You may need to remove the bumper.
