Main rookie error is that they come out 'mat' instead of a nice gloss - what happened?

the paint Hycote was like P*ss water and ran everywhere, i'd sanded them properly with 1200 w+d then cleaned with Isopropyl. I'd read about possible matt finish so was gonna clear cote. Picked up some full clears non LED and a local company is vinyl wrapping them for me at a price too good to ignore. He's a friend of my daughters they've each done business together so its mates rates. Once i get all my little bits done, will talk to him about dark tinting the whole back end. Black stealth look. While i'm here am debating fitting spacers only on the back as my 17" wheels seem deep in the wheel well, do they cause handling problems and should i do front aswell.

Hi

My 1.5 TD Mk3.5 thinks it does 65 plus mpg but when I work it out myself it is just doing 60 ish. In car mpg readouts aren't acurate.

Aircon is used all year round as well. I really doubt I'd get another 6mpg if I turned it off. The way someone drives has more effect on mpg.

I have another diesel car that is 16 years old but does 50mpg (it's official combined is only 49.6) with aircon on.  The Focus combined is 74 mpg but there is no way it will ever do that other than down a very steep hill.

Paul

driving with windows open above 55mph is almost the same fuel usage as air con on all the time (but you get hot, go deaf and wasps go up your arm)

AC on these is a variable rate compressor and use very little fuel, but don't set at -15C , run a comfy humidity controlled 20C and should save fuel over driving with the windows down and a sunroof burning your head

since they put 10% ethanol ***** in fuel they seem to have invented something that doesn't take the guaranteed 6% off your MPG (ethanol has less bang for the same fuel quantity) these dirty crooks seem to have stolen 20% just at the same time they doubled the price
