deandeandean
My car doesn't appear to have a locking steering column or if it does I am unable to activate it. To test this I have locked myself inside my car and found that I am still able to move the steering wheel albeit with a lot of effort as the power steering isn't on. I am guessing that it is some kind of electrically operated bolt that clicks into place upon locking the vehicle. I can't hear any activation noises when I lock up. I can see that steering lock modules are on sale at eBay. Is this something that is prone to failure?
TomsFocus
Leave the key indoors and you shouldn't be able to move the wheel. It's an electronic steering lock that applies when the key fob is out of range of the interior antenna. When you first get in, listen for the solenoid 'suck' when you press the clutch.
