Featured Replies

I was driving home and my fiesta come up with “engine service now” and my car went into limp mode while showing a yellow spanner on my dash

Yes.

You'll need to have the fault codes read, ideally with Ford specific diags such as Forscan.

The 'service now' message is misleading, it means there's a fault with the car, not just that it's due a service.

If you buy the adapter and use Forscan to find the codes, hopefully one of us will be able to advise what the fix is.  That's the only option other than going to a garage.

Scanned it and got this code, hopefully won’t be too expensive to fix myself…. Or pay a mechanic to do it

Ok, thanks for that.  It's not a code that gives us a definite part to change.  But it does give us a fairly small area to look into.

The boost control position sensor is mounted right underneath the turbo actuator, black plastic in a triangular shape.  Easiest check is to unplug it and check that the plug looks clean and dry.

If you can't see any obvious issues, the next step would probably be changing the sensor.  They only seem to be available as part of the actuator from what I can see on eBay.  Yours might look slightly different but this is the general idea.

Thank you for your help, all! Turns out it was the actuator that was faulty.
got it replaced months ago and it has been fine ever since!
it did cost £500 something though.

mainly because the garage thought it was the valve at first so they replaced that and that cost me £200 something.

they then replaced the actuator which was another £200 something
