I was wondering if anyone here has heard of and has any experience with Genassist Breakdown Cover (https://www.gen-assist.co.uk/)? I am being offered roadside assistance provided by them as part of a service plan at my local Ford dealer but outside of the website can hardly find anything about them and am a little concerned about accepting it to replace my current breakdown (with RAC). It would save me a fair amount of money and seems to offer a comparable level of cover but I have never heard of the company and apart from the website can find absolutely nothing about them, no social media, independent reviews (e.g. Trustpilot) etc.

Any informed, experiences and thoughts much appreciated.

Why not stay with RAC if you’ve happy and try to negotiate a lower membership fee.Sometimes chasing and wasting your life rather than knowing what works is more straight forward and better for your mental health👍

Just got my rac renewal. I phoned them and told them to lapse it.  They then knocked off 13% , also said they would give me 15 months instead of 12 months, and pay monthly with no additional credit charge.   Still told them to lapse it . They sounded desperate and she said she could ask her manager if she can reduce it further. I found you can get rac essentials through compare the market etc  a lot cheaper.  Difference being essentials has max 5 call outs per year. Which fingers crossed won’t be an issue.  Do people really call them out more than 5 times in a year? Mine is personal cover for me and wife. Includes my 40 year old motorbikes.  Rac does not have an age limit on vehicles like some other breakdown companies do.
