The file setup on the usb is as you say with 6 files in the folder. Yes, it has two usb ports. I am using the one in the armrest.

Try a different usb drive and make sure it’s the only usb connected.

Do you get any error message / error code, or does it just fail to start ?

You might have to try a master reset of sync. Maybe at least a soft reset to try and get it to clear itself up. Have you always had that error or did an update get interrupted at some point?

I’ve used SanDisk Cruzer memory sticks with success.

I’ve always used the usb socket by the gear shift.

if your USB stick is USB3.0 you may be better off with a USB2.0 version.

If I remember correctly I use a 64gb usb stick as the free space on a 32gb version wasn’t quite big enough for a map update at some point on my Focus or Fiesta’s.

@PaterAnt Is the file you are downloading from the Ford website, by inputting your VIN and then using their download system / links?

First usb map update that I have ever done. How do I carry out a soft reset?

Soft reset is to hold the audio control power button and skip forward for about 5-10 seconds and it will reboot.

If it still will not install, then you could try a Sync master reset, but you will loose some settings, nav favourites, etc.

I will give that a go. Thank you alex999.
