My memory fails me. Does the mk 1 Mex have the long pinion on the rack so the joint clears the starter motor?

    If you look on eBay you'll find Haynes manual's for every model you need, even RS, TC, Mexico and all the other ones I'd advise you to get a hard back titled Sporting Escorts Mk 1 2 & 3 competition and development it has every detail you'll need fantastic book.
