FORScan Have Removed FORScan Lite For Android From Google Play Store

Featured Replies

But you can still Sideload it from the FORScan site.

Just a heads-up for anyone interested, the reasons are given in the FORScan site  https://forscan.org/

For anyone who has it now, all updates will need to be Sideloaded from the FORScan site. When the latest version (.40) is loaded there is a tick box with the option of being informed and downloading any future updates because they won't show up on Google Play now.

For anyone who does not have it now and downloads it, the same process will apply.

The Licence for the current downloads will still stay with the Google Account, so we will not need to pay again if changing phones. I don't know what will happen to the new après Google version people if they change phone, maybe you can transfer it to your new phone by contacting FORScan just like the paid for Laptop Licence.

For anyone who does not know, the Phone versions are exactly the same as the free Laptop version for Diagnostic and Data Logging but you can't do Configuration and Programming or Output Control Mode (most people don't know what this is anyway) and there are a very few of the most dangerous Service Functions that are omitted in the Phone version.

A few months ago I bought and downloaded the android app for my phone. As yet I still haven't bought an OBD wifi/bluetooth adapter. @Tizer Can you recommend anything please ?

I use my Obdlink MX Bluetooth, which is the predecessor of the MX+ and is probably faster than most of the wired ones except the two recommended ones. At the time I bought it, it was one of the few recommended ones by FORScan for programming. The downside is that they cost about £100.

FORScan also now recommend the vLinker FD for Android. It is a lot cheaper but I have no Idea how good it is.

If you still have your Sony phone and an OTG Adaptor then you can use your vLinker wired cable if you use the recommended Connection type. Sony phones do support OTG. You do loose the advantages of Wireless  connection though if for example you are under the Bonnet wiggling wires while looking at the PID's.

The other alternative is the Tunnelrat Wi-Fi one that people on here have said is OK. I have not tried it myself and would not think that it would be good enough for light programming but should be ok for everything else.

Thanks for the info @Tizer. Now just for a laugh you have got to take a look at this fantastic vLinker FD WiFi model for only £21.85 This is clearly what everyone who has need to get the fault codes of their Dog should have.

Some parents might want that for their wayward teenage offspring as well😁

My friend has the Tunnelrat WiFi and works with his Google Pixel phone but I can't get it to work with my Samsung phone. It does what he needs to do.

Just noticed that this is WiFi, it's cheaper than the bluetooth model, but I notice Forscan recommend the Bluetooth one.

I seem to remember that Tunnelrat did say that there could be problems with some Samsung phones but they don't seem to sell the Wi-Fi ones now and removed all the details.

I always thought that Wi-Fi was faster than Bluetooth but it doesn't seem to be with Adaptors. The excellent OBDLink people do a Wi-Fi one as well but the FORScan people never liked it and specifically do not recommend it now.

Hello folks!

I really need your help!

Since the Forscann app apparently no longer exists, can you tell me step by step what I can do to read the error code with my adapter (OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner for iPhone, Android, and Windows = Amazon) and monitor the soot particle filter burn out? (I just ordered the adapter recently)

I looked for the app today but couldn't find anything.

Thank you all! ❤️

Welcome!
I've forgotten how I did it but it looks like the downloads are on this page:
https://forscan.org/download.html
You then have to activate (pay) at another website (£11 IIRC)
If that doesn't work come back and ask again?

It's the differential pressure, soot parameters (open and closed loop) and previous distances for regens that tell you what is going on?:

You don't say what year or why you need to monitor or if it has a vaporiser lug (usual source of problems?)

The up to date situation is that sales of the Android App have been suspended for a different reason to the original post but IOS sales are still ok.

Your Bluetooth Adaptor should work with the Windows Laptop version of FORScan. If it doesn't then it is the Adaptors fault, not a fault in FORScan.
