Boot locking mk1 focus

Featured Replies

My boot lock only opens with the key. ie: it doesn't unlock when I use the door switch. It's a nuisance because the key is a bit dodgy so I need the boot to unlock when the door is manually unlocked. Help

You'll be needing one of these. Just do a search on Ebay, not expensive. I'm now on my 3rd one!

Mk1 doesn't use that handle @StephenFord

Sorry, I can see you've put some effort into that post!

First test is the dash switch itself.  Remove it and test for continuity when pressed.  Or just replace it as they're cheap enough.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to remove the inner plastic cover on the boot and have a look at the release mechanism.

I know the title stated a Mk1, but his profile states a Mk2 (2006). Oh well, he can decide what he has LOL

Ah, fair point!  Well one of us has wasted some time then.

Is yours a MK1 or a MK2 as your post says MK1 but the car in your profile, being a 2006, is a MK2

Dave, you gotta get in the habit of reading some posts in between the 1st and jumping in with your response

Tbf it also says 'door switch' which doesn't open the boot in either Mk1 or Mk2...  At least the Mk1 has a 'dash' switch!
