Help Battery Replacement

Ahh ok that makes sense the guy that had it before me put in additional mustang lights.  I wont be able to take out the battery for another week to recharge for 12 hours as you suggested but is it really a must ???

You should always fully charge a new when you install it, as it's state of charge could be anything. When you reset the BMS it expects that it is starting with a new battery with a full charge.

On modern cars with BMS the battery should be charged while it is still connected to the vehicle.

The battery charger should be connected with the positive lead connected directly to the battery positive terminal. The charger negative lead should be connected to the main chassis earth point [NOT to the battery negative] This is so the BMS can detect the battery is being externally recharged and adjust the state of charge information that the system has.
