SMAX 2009 Lights staying on

Featured Replies

Hello, all of the lights behind the buttons on the interior of my car stay alight even when locked. How can I fix this. ATM, I have to disconnect the battery constantly

Is it just the switch illumination that stays on, or is there other things like the radio display or instrument display ?

The supply for the back lights on the switches is from the GEM (part of the passenger compartment fuse box).

These are known on many vehicles to get water in that causes corrosion in the GEM which then leads to all kinds of random electrical faults.

Sorry for the immense delayed reply… I forgot I had even asked here. We have been disconnecting the battery to ensure it doesn’t die. How would I go about inspecting the GEM, removing every fuse and checking?
