Focus 2012 - Periodic vibrations of gas/brakes pedals

Featured Replies

Hi, everyone.

Focus 2012, automatic (powershift), 2.0 petrol, 96000 kms.

So, the issue is that there are these periodic vibrations of gas/brakes pedals, which does not seem normal to me, and which mostly occur after I launch the car, or during the driving (but not always).

I live in Canada, so now it's usually -20 at night, and -5 at day, which I think may be a reason. Or - it is a sign that it's time to change a cambelt - even though it seems a little bit early.

Anyway, those are just my assumptions, and obviously there can be more to this issue, but interesting if anyone had dealt with similar issue, and can advise what could cause it.

Thank you.

The cambelt was due for change at 10 years, not that is going to fix your vibration problems.

I think the US spec 2.0 petrol is chain driven?

Yes, I think you could be right. This is always the problem when trying to think about other countries and there engine variants.

I wonder why the OP has a huge 2.0 when a nice 3 cylinder 1.0 Ecoboost would do just as well 🤣

I'm not an original owner, and due to my budget I didn't have much of a choice 🙂

I may be wrong terms-wise, but I think it is a belt, and not a chain - https://partsavatar.ca/2012-2013-ford-focus-serpentine-belt-motorcraft-jk5-291?l=C_No_Revenue&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjbagBhD3ARIsANRrqEtPFGoR9eDyfqgij66k9qsMO4xiPNggJFvysgP9CQKPL1yI4nhVRB4aAj6KEALw_wcB

That's the auxillary belt.  It runs the alternator and air conditioning.  It is not the same as a cambelt.

@unofixwas being facetious. In the UK we refer to the 1.0 Ecoboost as an Ecoboom due to its propensity to self-destruct.

Engine mounts?
