Air hose

Featured Replies

Hi. My 1.8 TDCi refused to start after parking. After getting a mechanic friend round to look at it, he opted to remove the clamp and hose off the air intake. It was followed by a big rush of air, after which the car turned over and sounded fine. Back in March, the MAF sensor was replaced. The filter is new and clean, so I'm trying to find out what could have happened and why?

obviously a blockage somewhere

Which pipe exactly?  Before or after airbox?

@TomsFocusAfter the filter, the pipe connected to the MAF sensor housing

Thanks.  That is odd.  Does sound like a blockage somewhere in the intake.

Maybe a piece of rag or tissue dropped by a mechanic.  Or a bit of soft plastic debris sucked in off the road while driving.

If it is anything like that, it would have dropped when pressure was released but still be in there ready to get lodged again.

Thanks. We had a look at the time, to see if we could see a blockage, but found nothing. It might take a more detailed hunt

Did your search include the snorkel?

Blimey, I had to look that one up. The answer is, no. That's going to have to be part of the the detailed hunt. The car is running now, but still needs this sorted to be sure. Thanks for your input
