Heater matrix???

Featured Replies

Hi Peeps!

I have a 2011 Focus mark three Titanium estate (TIVCT). I am losing coolant and have a wet drivers side footwell!  I am assuming that the heater matrix is Leaking?

My question is what sort of a job is it to change (I assume its an absolute pig of a job?) and are there any other possible causes?

Also anybody got any idea of roughly how much it might cost to have it done (I realise it is difficult to know).

Or do I need to start looking for another car???

Regards.

The good news is it's unlikely to be the actual matrix, they are fairly robust, though the pipes feeding it have a weakness of leaking due to a simple faulty seal. It's a bit of a pig to get to but nowhere near as scary as having to dismantle the dash to get to the matrix. I've had a seal go twice on mine. If you have a competent local garage (non Ford) should be 2 to 3 hours labour to install a £4 seal.

This may be of interest...
