2020 Focus STLine Warning lamps?

I have a 2020 Focus ST-Line. 

As I was driving the other day a warning light momentarily displayed and then went away. I know (roughly) where the light was on the dashboard and I have a vague recollection (I was driving at the time and it was only on for a moment) that it looked a bit like the General Electric logo (or Mr Messy as per Roger Hargreaves)!

Is there any test mode to get all warning lamps to illuminate?

Since then I have had the Auto hold system malfunction message come up 2 or 3 times and the Hill start assist not available message.

Also, recently both my wife and I have noticed that sometimes that changing gear can be difficult, going from a gear to neutral is ok but from neutral into a gear is reluctant. Is this a well known problem?

The car is still under the Hendy 12 month Warranty so I would like them to sort it out!

Thanks for that. I don't recognize it to be any of these, but I do know whereabouts it was on the dash. (Top row, just left of centre.) Thats why I would like to get them all illuminated.

There used to be IC lamp and gauge sweep test, but I not aware of that on newer models. It may be possible using FORScan, but again it's not something I've done on newer cars. Perhaps @iantt will know it the self test function is still available.

The will be a cluster self test, but no idea how to enable unfortunately.

Probably the same as Mk3.  Press & hold 'OK' on the steering wheel while turning the ignition on.  (Don't start the engine). 

Once in test mode, keep pressing 'OK' until you reach the cluster test.

If you have the analog dash, then a bright light from the right angle, or parking with the sun on the dash you can see the shape of all the symbols.

At what battery voltage would you typically see issues. Wife's car over the last couple of days has started throwing up faults...... "ESC service Required", "Emergency call system malfunction. service required".

Only thing that has changed is the weather's got warmer.

Is there a Japanese reset for this (off/on) or a particular module needs updating?

battery seems fine as Stop/Start working again now we are in the warmer months.

Just encase you're not aware, the charging system of these cars will only charge the battery to a maximum of 80% so it saves the dolphins and keeps Greta happy.

Once the battery voltage falls below 70% charge then problems and odd things start to happen. Once it falls to 60% or less expect that keyless entry (if fitted) will be turned off along with Auto hold, Emergency call, heated windscreen to name just a few.

battery measures 12.2V, guess it needs charging?

That's going to take a good 12 or more hours with a Smart battery charger.

Remember to charge the battery while still fitted and connected to the car. Connect positive lead direct to the battery terminal and connect the negative lead to the chassis earth point, NOT the battery negative.

The Maypole display is a bit confusing. 

The charger is pumping 14v into the battery, but if you remove it that voltage will drop off quickly, so that's not actually a useful voltage reading.

The bars along the edge are a bit more useful.  But ultimately there's no way to tell how much longer it'll take to charge.  Just have to keep checking until the backlight is green and all 5 bars are solid.

Note - If you unlock the car or open a door the reading will change.  So don't touch anything before checking the display.

Keyless has worked fine, just got error messages. Does increasing the SOC with Forscan prevent these issues ?

I have my SOC set at 95% and checking my battery on a regular basis I see that it mostly is charged to around 89%

If I've done some really long drives it will be between 93 and 95% but that doesn't happen often.

Ours are mostly short journeys circa 15-20 mile round trips to work/shops or to visit family.

Then I would recommend changing the default SOC from 80% and increasing it to 95%

Please remind me how/where to change SoC in Forscan. Will order a cable from amazon today.

Once FORScan is connected you need to go to the BCM and just use the search system. Look for SOC or just type in battery. It will bring up 3 or 4 lines of info. One of the lines will be SOC. You just need to select edit and change the 80 to 95 and select save.

Changed SoC from 80 to 95% (I think lol). Asked to power cycle ignition (off/on) if that is correct?

Is the voltage indication in the bottom RH corner of Forscan the true battery voltage, this was showing 11.8V 🙃

If it's the display I think you mean then yes that is the battery voltage at that moment.

You should not carry out programming of any type if the voltage is less than 12.42V (80%) or you risk the programming crashing mid way and turning your car in to a large paperweight 🙁

Always have the battery charger connected while doing programing.
