Creaking noise from the rear

Featured Replies

Hello all!

Looking for some advice on this one - When reversing, slow moving and turning around roundabouts (for example), there seems to be some creaking noises from the rear.

Has anyone had a similar issue? For clarity, I have a 2000 Ford Focus Estate.

Thank you!

Could be a knackered shock but most likely rear suspension bushes worn.

There are a lot of rubber bushes on a Mk1 Focus rear due to the independent rear suspension (rare on family hatchbacks at the time) so may be difficult to work out which ones are causing the noise.

For a quick fix you can lubricate them with a bit of spray grease.

Might also be worth checking the last MOT for any advisories for rear suspension.

Thank you @TomsFocus. I have had a look around as best as I can but I decided to go for a free suspension check at Halfords. I did however notice when I was jacking it up it creaked. It’ll be good to see what it is!
