Mushroom shaped hole

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble finding this rubber insert online, the drivers door has one, passenger side is just the hole, what's it called and does it have a part number so I can buy a replacement, thank you.P7200306.thumb.JPG.787f77af018b34fd2f0f03545c9bc967.JPG

Hard to tell from the picture, the hole looks like a mushroom lying on it's side.

If Super Mario taught me anything, you have to jump on any mushroom that comes out of that hole!

Part no. stamped on driver's side grommet perhaps - they look symmetrical to me so it might fit.

It's the hole for the door edge protectors, though both of my Mk4s had edge protectors fitted so I haven't seen one without.

This is the sort of part you're looking for, though presumably without the hole in it.  Might be worth messaging them through eBay to ask if they have a Mk4 equivalent.  The parts catalogues we can access publicly don't cover the Mk4 unfortunately.

Looked at drivers side grommet, not made of rubber, just plastic, it is universal for right and left door, I was surprised how easy it came off, no part number on it though.

I've given up trying to find the door protector grommet, surprised it was so hard to find it, I can't be the only person to loose it, I've ordered sticky back black rubber, when it arrives will cut the shape to suit and stick it on.

Just ask a Ford dealer. They'll be able to look it up on their parts system, I don't suppose it is expensive.

There will be plenty of MK4 focus without them.

Find a mate who has a 3D printer, might be a nice little earner.  If you can't find the part neither will anyone else 😉

Given that 99% of Fords don't have the protectors fitted (so would have been supplied with these covers) I'm amazed that your Ford dealer can't source one for you. You HAVE asked them, haven't you?

I've found 2.

I never would have guessed it'd be a truffle shaped blank to cover a mushroom shaped hole.

I haven't asked any Ford dealers yet, I've been away on holiday and only noticed the door protector hole as I was getting the car ready to go away, when I took the cover of the drivers to see if there was a code on it, I was surprised how easy it came out.

That's what I'm talking about, I have 4mm rubber with sticky back, I might just cut to shape and stick that over the hole, as the drivers side didn't seem that secure anyway.

Not sure it would be the correct blanking cap, as I have the MK4 Focus, thanks anyway, the stick on rubber hasn't fallen off so happy to leave it.
