2016 Galaxy Transmission limited function

Featured Replies

I have a 2016 Ford Galaxy 2.0 Titanium X with poweshift gearbox and done just over 78k. I've had it nearly 4 years and been serviced annual by Bristol Street Motors, Ford, and they have carried out nearly all work,  MOT, servicing and repairs, including gearbox at 70k last year. I a Transmission Limited Function fault with not charging gear properly. AA called and diagnosed faulty EGR valve which Hartwell Ford replaced, but driving down M4 fault appeared twice on dash, kept driving as didn't want to stop, only once did it drop down a gear, but immediately changed back up. I know there is a lot of old threads about this problem, but nothing new, any updates to this issue?

Have you checked the condition of the battery, is the state of charge at least 80% or better.

@DaveT70 is our resident gearbox expert, I'm sure he will be able to offer some sensible suggestions (PS. he is a huge fan of the powershift 😉)

As @unofix says, check the power is sufficient.

Also, on Galaxy/SMax, there is a large block connector in the LH front wheel arch which has a tendency to snap wires, check for broken/damaged wires before and after the connector

Has the maintenance on the gearbox been done at the correct times?

Will check connector. Gearbox was serviced at 70k last year.

Suspect poor/failing battery first

EGR still showing at fault even though new, mechanic diagnosed possibly fault not cleared from log when renewed, need to take on run to see if fault reoccurs.
