Only grinding gear when going down to 2nd

Featured Replies

I have a 2015 1.0 ecboost and was on a trip for 6 days where the car sat. I come back to and every single time i downshift to second (no matter how many revs i'm giving it) it will always grind a quite a bit and then slot into gear.

I had slight issues where it felt a bit hard getting into gear when i first bought it (nowhere near what it’s doing now) but a clutch bleed seemed to make it ok.

Seems like it could be an issue with the clutch but i also (with my limited car mechanical knowledge) feel like it would be more of an issue in other gears too if the clutch was the issue.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and has a fix as i don’t fancy spending money sorting a clutch out that’s still ok 🙂

Did you ever solve this issue? My mk 7.5 Fiesta Ecoboost has started doing this too, exactly the same as you. Going down from 3rd to 2nd it grinds when slotting in, but other gears seem fine.
