Powershift Transmission Problems

Featured Replies

Hi, I just bought an 2.0 diesel S Max 2013 with just over 50,000 miles on the clock. I just have a couple of questions in relation to the powershift auto transmission box.

  1. At what mileage should the auto box be serviced
  2. When the vehicle is P and I put my foot on the brake I hear a clicking sound from the gear lever prior to moving it into D. and vice vera when I park and put it into P. Is this normal?
  3. When I move the gear lever from P into D I need to wait a second or two before the gear engages and I can accelerate off. The same applies, when I'm at a junction and I have the vehicle in D and my foot on the brake.

If I accelerate immediately the vehicle jerks forward.

Is this a sign of issues to come or is just how the powershift auto box functions

Thanks

Yes, totally normal. I'd be worried if it didn't.

Thanks for that, do you have any knowledge about the gear engagement issue I raised

Well that's a very good question. Ford UK will say it's sealed for life but others will say it should be serviced every 37500 miles. The best guys to answer this would be @TomsFocus or @DaveT70

It's usual that it takes about 1 second for the gearbox to be ready when moving off from being stopped.
